The present invention is to prevent the rapid viscosity rise generated at the time of dissolving or dispersing in a solvent a polymer obtained by reacting a material polymer having an acidic functional group and a hydroxyl group in the principal chain part with an isocyanate compound, in particular, a photo-curing polymer obtained by reaction with a radical polymerizable group-containing isocyanate compound. A highly stable polymer can be obtained by reacting a material polymer having a principal chain including at least a component unit having an acidic functional group and a component unit having a hydroxyl group with an isocyanate compound, and further reacting the same with an alcohol. Moreover, by producing a material polymer using a non-nitrile azo-based or peroxide-based polymerization initiator and/or introducing an isocyanate compound using a polymerization inhibitor selected from the compounds represented by the above-mentioned formulae (10) and (16), the transparency can be improved. A photo-curing polymer obtained in the present invention is suited for forming a protection film of a color filter and a column-like spacer of a liquid crystal panel.

There are provided a pigment-containing coloring material stably dispersible in a high concentration in various organic solvents, and a process for producing the same. The production process of the coloring material is characterized by comprising the steps of: providing a solution comprising (1) a soluble pigment precursor which is convertible into an insoluble pigment, (2) a solvent capable of dissolving the soluble pigment precursor therein, and (3) a stabilizing agent comprising an organic compound having a structure or a functional group capable of stabilizing the dispersibility of the insolubilized pigment in the solvent; and converting said soluble pigment precursor into an insoluble pigment to obtain the coloring material containing the insolubilized pigment dispersed stably in the solvent.

An object of the present invention is to provide a high photo-sensitivity curable resin. And another object is to prevent the viscosity increase, or to improve the transparency of said photo-curable resin, if necessary. An isocyanate compound containing a radical polymerizable group is reacted with a raw material polymer having a principal chain comprising an unit having an acid functional group and an unit having a hydroxyl group in the irate of 1.0 or more in terms of the equivalent ratio of the isocyanate group to the hydroxyl groups in said principal chain (NCO/OH). Moreover, when a raw material polymer is produced, its transparency is improved by using an azo polymerization initiator of non-nitrile series or a peroxide-based polymerization initiator. Use of any polymerization inhibitor selected from the groups of compounds shown in formula (9) or formula (15) can also improves transparency when introducing the isocyanate compound into the raw material. Furthermore, viscosity increase can be prevented by treating a photo-curable resin with alcohol. A color layer, protection film, and column-shaped spacer are formed using said photo-curable resin.
