A shift lever assembly for an automotive transmission including a lower shift lever for engaging and operating an automotive transmission to select a desired gear stage. An upper shift lever is detachably coupled to the lower lever and serves for manual actuation to effect movement of the lower shift lever. One of the upper and lower shift levers terminates at one end in a shaft. The other of the upper and lower shift levers terminates at one end in a bore into which is received the shaft. The coupling is effected by a fastener that cams and secures the shaft in the bore. The coupling may be easily detached.

Shift lever assembly and method of assembling

A gear type transmission apparatus comprises a transmission case containing a plurality of gear trains and an output shaft to which an output of an engine is transmitted through the gear trains and provided with an opening at an upper portion thereof, a cover member mounted on the upper portion of the transmission case to cover the opening, a holder member formed separately from the cover member and fixed on an under surface of the cover member to be positioned at the inside of a contacting face of the cover member provided for coming into contact with an upper end face of the transmission case, and a shift rod supported by the holder member to be movable in a direction along its axis at a position above the output shaft for causing the gear trains to be in operation to transmit the output of the engine selectively.

Gear type transmission apparatus

A gear type transmission unit which includes a transmission unit housing, a bearing retainer mounted at a front wall portion of the transmission unit housing, and a first bearing held in the bearing retainer for supporting an input shaft, and is characterized by an upper portion of a bearing holding portion of the bearing retainer, formed to project toward the side of a gear speed changing mechanism. This projecting upper portion is formed with an oil groove for lubricating oil introduction, communicated with an oil hole for bearing lubrication formed in the bearing retainer.

Gear type transmission unit

A vehicle gear transmission having an overdrive and reverse gear stages. The counter-overdrive gear and the counter-reverse gear on the countershaft are rotatably mounted on the countershaft and a synchronizing mechanism is provided between the counter-overdrive gear and the counter-reverse gear. The clutch hub sleeve of the synchronizing mechanism is actuated by a manual shift lever through a reversing lever which functions to reverse the direction of movement of the shift lever before the movement is transmitted to the clutch hub sleeve.
