A method and device for forming a warp beam of uniform diameter by feedback control of winding tension, in which a signal obtained from local winding tensions, each corresponding to a tension of a yarn at a certain widthwise position, are utilized for adjusting the position and width of a reed so that distribution of the warp on the beam is improved and an intra-beam diameter difference is compensated. One of the signals obtained from the local winding tensions is utilized for adjusting the rotational speed of rollers so that an inter-beam diameter difference is compensated. Thus, a warp beam without intra- or inter-beam diameter difference can always be produced.

Method for forming warp beam of uniform diameter

A filter plug having a dual structure comprising filter element A made from a crimped long filter tow in a form of a plug, filter element B, joined to said A, prepared by wrapping a core material consisting of a long fiber tow in a sheet-formed product having grooves which is formed from a material having an air permeability of 8 liters/minute or less and an air permeable wrapping paper and/or a wrapping paper with perforated openings on its periphery which is wrapping therein said filter elements A and B so that the outer grooves parts of the sheet-formed product pass through in the longer direction of the filter plug.

A method for manufacturing cigarette filters which have a well-stabilized shape in which acetate fibrous tows impregnated with carboxylic acid ester of polyol are formed into a predetermined shape, uniformly impregnated with water, and irradiated with microwave energy. Water is used during the application of microwave energy to enhance the absorption of microwave energy and hence heating of the filter. This causes the carboxylic acid ester of polyol to very rapidly disperse causing it to permeate into the acetate fiber to rapidly complete the stabilization and solidification of the filter.
