Providing copy data candidates appropriate for a user request. Included are an operational portal that registers user request information; a data catalog that manages information about multiple copy data located at sites configuring a hybrid cloud system; a data allocation service that allocates duplicated copy data to the sites; and a guideline management service that selects a copy data candidate appropriate for user request information. The guideline management service acquires information about copy data containing the same data as user request information from the data catalog and verifies whether there is a copy data candidate satisfying the user request information. When there is consequently no copy data candidate satisfying the user request information, the copy data is allocated to the site on condition that the copy data is optimal enough to satisfy a generation schedule and a processing speed of a copy data candidate satisfying the user request information.

A composite membrane for selectively pervaporating a first liquid from a mixture comprising the first liquid and a second liquid. The composite membrane includes a porous substrate comprising opposite first and second major surfaces, and a plurality of pores. A pore-filling polymer is disposed in at least some of the pores so as to form a layer having a thickness within the porous substrate. The polymer is more permeable to the first liquid than the second liquid but not soluble in the first liquid or the second liquid. The composite membrane may be asymmetric or symmetric with respect to the amount of pore-filling polymer throughout the thickness of the porous substrate.

When a public line is used for a remote copy function of storage in a disaster recovery (DR) system, the online performance is degraded due to the increase and decrease of the line utilization rate. Therefore, it is desired to change the remote copy function depending on the line utilization rate. Also, there is the possibility of data loss if disaster occurs during the copy between storage devices. Therefore, it is desired to perform the processing to detect the data status immediately before the occurrence of the disaster. By switching the synchronous transmission and the asynchronous transmission in accordance with the increase and decrease of the response time of the remote copy function between storage devices, the online performance of the primary site can be maintained without being influenced by the line utilization rate, and the data loss can be detected based on the used remote copy function.

Provided is a technique of setting up a disaster recovery system. In a log-based disaster recovery system including a first site for processing data and a second site for storing a backup of the first site, the first site has a volume where data is stored and a volume that is made quiescent. The disaster recovery system accepts data updates while sequentially copying initial data from the quiescent volume to the second site. A copy of a log of the first site is kept in the second site and is synchronized with the original log. When data of the first site is updated and corresponding initial data has not been copied to the second site, the data to be updated is preferentially copied to the second site. A log is applied to the copied data, thereby matching data of the second site with data of the first site.

The filter includes an interference element having a reflection band disposed primarily in the near infrared, and having a high transmission over most of the visible region. The filter also includes an absorptive element that absorbs light non-uniformly over the visible region. The filter when combined with a semiconductor photodiode or other suitable detector yields a detector system whose spectral responsivity closely matches the visual response of the human eye.
