A thermoplastic composition includes an aromatic poly(ketone), a poly(etherimide), and a reactive additive, wherein each component is present in a particular amount as defined herein. The thermoplastic composition can be useful in an insulating layer disposed over a conductor wire to form an electrical wire. Articles including the thermoplastic composition can be particularly useful in applications including an electrical device component, a railway vehicle component, an auto-mobile component, a marine vehicle component, a construction component, construction component, a building component, or an aircraft component.

A composition includes a polycarbonate resin formed via an interfacial polymerization process and from 0.05 ppm to 50 ppm of a sulfonic acid. A molded article formed from the composition may exhibit a yellowness index that is less than that of a reference molded article formed from substantially similar polycarbonate composition comprising the polycarbonate resin but in the absence of the sulfonic acid. A thermoplastic composition comprises: a copolycarbonate comprising bisphenol A carbonate units and second carbonate units of the formula (I) and optionally, a bisphenol A homopolycarbonate; wherein the second carbonate units are present in an amount of 10 to 49 mol % based on the sum of the moles of the copolycarbonate and the bisphenol A homopolycarbonate, the copolycarbonate comprises less than 2 ppm by weight of each of an ion of lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, ammonium, chlorine, bromine, fluorine, nitrite, nitrate, phosphite, phosphate, sulfate, formate, acetate, citrate, oxalate, trimethylammonium, and triethylammonium, as measured by ion chromatography, and the thermoplastic composition has a bisphenol A purity of at least 99.6%, or at least 99.7% as determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The thermoplastic composition has a Vicat B120 of 155&#xb0; C. or higher; and an increase in yellowness index of less than 10 during 1000 hours of heat aging at 155&#xb0; C. 

High heat copolycarbonate compositions having enhanced optical properties, articles formed therefrom, and methods of manufacture

A composition includes specific amounts of a poly(alkylene terephthalate) and an epoxy compound having a weight average molecular weight of at least (500) daltons, and an epoxy equivalent weight of at least (400) grams per equivalent. The composition exhibits high melt flow, and articles molded from the composition exhibit reduced high-temperature outgassing compared to corresponding compounds without the epoxy compound. The composition is suitable for molding directly metallizable reflectors and bezels for automotive headlights.

A lens containing a polycarbonate composition is disclosed. The polycarbonate composition includes a copolycarbonate having bisphenol A carbonate units and second carbonate units of the formula and 2 to 40 ppm of an organosulfonic stabilizer of the formula wherein the second carbonate units are present in an amount of 20 to 49 mol %, preferably 30 to 40 mol % based on the sum of the moles of the copolycarbonate and the bisphenol A homopolycarbonate. The polycarbonate composition has: a Vicat B120 of 160&#xb0; C. or higher measured according to ISO 306; and a yellowness index of less than 12, measured according to ASTM D1925.
