Each of the power supply units in a power supply apparatus includes a voltage conversion circuit that converts input voltage into output voltage within a predetermined voltage range an output capacitor that outputs supply power while accumulating charges according to the voltage converted by the voltage conversion circuit, and an overload detection circuit that detects an overload of the output capacitor and when the overload is detected, notifies an apparatus operated using the power supplied from the power supply apparatus of an overload signal requesting a suppression of power consumption.

As a base, a side wall, and a top board are integrated by integral molding in a printed circuit board module, the printed circuit board module is structured in a simple manner. Further, conductive terminals are used for fitting a printed circuit board. The printed circuit board is securely held between the electrically conductive terminals and the top board via an elasticity of the conductive terminals. Here, due to the functioning of the notches, the printed circuit board is positioned in a simple manner. Due to the functioning of the base, a printed circuit board module can stand erect. The printed circuit board establishes a vertical posture. The packaging area is reduced. The packaging density improves. Further, the flat surface of the top board that is formed facing upward with a certain extension is used as, for example, an absorbent face.

A power supply control circuit detects a reference voltage VD corresponding to an intermediate voltage of a Hi Side FET and a Lo Side FET, when a short-circuit fault of the Lo Side FET is generated, and compares a threshold value VIN&#x2212;VrefH and the reference voltage VD using a comparator COMP. The power supply control circuit determines that the short-circuit fault is generated, when the reference voltage VD is less than the threshold value VIN&#x2212;VrefH and a switching control signal (HiDr) is in an ON state. Likewise, the power supply control circuit detects the reference voltage VD of the Hi Side FET and the Lo Side FET, when a short-circuit fault of the Hi Side FET is generated, and compares a threshold value VrefL and the reference voltage VD using the comparator COMP. The power supply control circuit determines that the short-circuit fault is generated, when the reference voltage VD is more than the threshold value VrefL and a switching control signal (LoDr) is in an ON state.

A power supply supplying electric power through parallel operation of power supply units is disclosed. Each of the power supply units includes a transformer; a stopped state latch part configured to latch a control signal for controlling outputting of the power supply unit in a predetermined stopped state to stop the outputting, after passage of a first time in response to detection of an overcurrent on a primary side of the transformer; and an outputting restriction part configured to set the control signal in a predetermined restricted state to restrict the outputting of the power supply unit without stopping the outputting, after passage of a second time in response to detection of an overcurrent on a secondary side of the transformer. The second time is shorter than the first time.

Power supply and method of controlling same

A power supply to be connected in parallel to one or more other power supplies so as to share with the other power supplies in supplying load current to a load is disclosed. The power supply includes a load current comparison part including a first input terminal and a second input terminal and outputting a difference in level between a first signal applied to the first input terminal and a second signal applied to the second input terminal. The load current comparison part includes a differential amplifier. A first input terminal of the differential amplifier is connected to a first input terminal of the differential amplifier of each of the other power supplies. A signal indicating a load current supplied by the power supply is input to a second input terminal of the differential amplifier. A non-directional impedance element is inserted between the first and second input terminals of the differential amplifier.

There is disclosed a current balancing circuit for use in a switching power supply unit that operates in parallel with one or more other switching power supply units with current balancing terminals connected to each other. The current balancing circuit comprises a first resistor that receives a detection signal of the output current input via a diode and outputs an output current detection voltage; a second resistor connected between the current balancing terminal and a connection point between the first resistor and the diode; an operational amplifier that outputs a signal corresponding to the different between the output current detection voltages; and a switching circuit.

This electric-power supplying device comprises switching elements, rectifying elements, and a control circuit. The switching elements are switched according to a switching pulse so as to perform a rectification.
