A bellows () of a dust boot () having large diameter parts () and small diameter parts () disposed alternately covers a piston rod (R) projecting from a cylinder (C). A bump stopper (B) fixed to the cylinder (C) projects into the bellows () as a projecting portion. The bellows () comprises a first section (M) which passes a projecting end of the projecting portion according to the elongation and contraction of the piston rod (R) and a second section (L) located therebelow. By making the small diameter parts in the second section (L) have a smaller inner diameter than the small diameter part located at a boundary between the first section (M) and the second section (L), the bellows () can be made slim without interfering with the bump stopper (B).

In a magnetoresistive effect element using a ferromagnetic tunnel junction having a tunnel barrier layer sandwiched between at least a pair of ferromagnetic layers, a magnetization free layer comprising one of the ferromagnetic layers is composed of a single layer of a material having an amorphous or microcrystal structure or a material layer the main portion of which has an amorphous or microcrystal structure. A strut mount in a vehicular suspension system which receives a load from a shock absorber includes a washer and an upper sheet fixable at spaced apart locations on a piston rod of the shock absorber. An upper ring portion and a lower ring portion are disposed between the washer and the upper sheet. A plate disposed between the upper and lower rubber ring portions extends outwardly in the radial direction. The strut mount further includes a coil spring receiving rubber ring portion provided on a lower side of the plate for receiving a coil spring disposed about the shock absorber. At least both the lower rubber ring portion and the coil spring receiving rubber ring portion are formed as an integral structure on the plate.

The present invention is directed to a perpendicular magnetic recording apparatus and a perpendicular magnetic reproducing apparatus which can achieve high-density recording and high output reproduction. The perpendicular magnetic recording medium (2) is used which has a perpendicular magnetic film made of chiefly Co, Pt and a vertical coercive force of 1500 Oe or above. This recording medium is recorded by the magnetic head (4) of which at least the magnetic gap portion is formed of the soft magnetic thin film (3). This soft magnetic thin film (3) contains chiefly Fe and has a saturation magnetic flux density 4.pi.Ms of 19 kG or above.

Perpendicular magnetic recording and perpendicular magnetic reproducing

A magnetic information detecting apparatus is disclosed including a recording medium in which magnetic information is recorded and a magnetic field detection unit for detecting the magnetic information, the magnetic field detection unit having its magnetic field detecting section formed of a magnetoresistive element or a Hall element, the magnetic field detecting section surrounding peripheries of the recording medium. The recording medium has a substantially circular cross section. The magnetoresistive element has a structure of an artificial multilayer film formed by alternately stacking a conductor layer and a magnetic layer. The magnetic field detection unit has a soft magnetic body for conducting a magnetic field to the magnetic field detecting section.

Magnetic information detecting apparatus

A magnetic recording system for recording signals onto coat-type magnetic tape using magnetic powder by using a magnetic head, and a magnetic recording system for recording signals onto a coat-type magnetic disk using magnetic powder by running magnetic head in contact with the disk, are disclosed. The magnetic tape has a coercive force Hc of 2000 to 3800 Oe in the former system, while the magnetic disk has a coercive force He of 2000 to 3500 Oe in the latter system. In both systems, signals are recorded by using a magnetic head using magnetic core members having a saturation magnetic flux density of 15 kG or greater. The magnetic core member having the saturation magnetic Flux density of 15 kG or greater is exemplified by a material expressed by a composition formula (Fe.sub.95.5 Al.sub.1 V.sub.0.5 Nb.sub.0.5 Cu.sub.0.5 Ru.sub.2).sub.92 N.sub.6 O.sub.2.

Magnetic recording system

A magnetoresistance film has an artificial lattice film structure having alternating conductive and magnetic layers. The anisotropic magnetic field H.sub.k of the magnetic layers and the anti-ferromagnetic coupling magnetic field H.sub.s between the magnetic layers which face each other through the conductive layers satisfy the relationship H.sub.k &lt;H.sub.s. The conductive layers contain 0.05 to 5 atomic % of at least one material selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt, and nickel. The thickness d of each conductive layer is selected in the range of 1.02.times.d.sub.max .ltoreq.d.ltoreq.1.10.times.d.sub.max or 0.90.times.d.sub.max .ltoreq.d.ltoreq.0.98.times.d.sub.max. The magnetoresistance is exhibited substantially isotropically in the plane of the layers. The magnetoresistance film has large magnetoresistance prevented from being reduced due to the anisotropy of the magnetic layers, a high sensitivity, and keeps its large magnetoresistance stably. A method of manufacturing such a magnetoresistance film is also disclosed.

Magnetoresistance film and method of manufacturing same

A magnetic recording medium having a magnetic thin film of a composition expressed as (Co.sub.a Pt.sub.b M.sub.c.sup.I M.sub.d.sup.II) Ox (where a, b, c, d are atomic percent; and x is weight percent). In this composition, a+b+c+d=100, 0&lt;a, 0&lt;b.ltoreq.50, 0&lt;c.ltoreq.20, 0&lt;d.ltoreq.20, 0&lt;x.ltoreq.10. M.sup.I is at least one element selected from P, Si and Ge; and M.sup.II is at least one element selected from B, Ga, Al, In, Sn and Sb. Such magnetic thin film is capable of retaining a large coercive force regardless of its thickness and can be formed without the necessity of raising the base temperature during deposition of a magnetic layer.

Magnetic recording medium

Additive elements are added to Fe-N soft magnetic thin films along with oxygen, so that the thermal stability is remarkably improved. After annealing treatment at approximately 550.degree. C., it is possible to provide an Fe-N soft magnetic thin film with a low coercive force. Similarly, it is also possible to provide a soft magnetic thin film having a low coercive force by introducing a combination of specific types of additive elements to Fe-N soft magnetic thin films. When oxygen is further added to the film, it is also possible to provide a soft magnetic thin film which has very excellent soft magnetic characteristics and good thermal stability. The soft magnetic thin films of the invention have good soft magnetic characteristics, a high saturation magnetic flux density and good thermal stability. A magnetic head of a metal-in-gap type using the soft magnetic thin film is also described.

Fe-N-based soft magnetic thin films and magnetic heads using such films

Disclosed is a soft magnetic thin film having a basic composition of FecoNi or FeCoDy which is specified for use as a single layer film for increasing the saturation magnetic flux density and the coercive force. The soft magnetic properties are achieved by laminating the above defined soft magnetic thin film as the first soft magnetic thin film layer with a second magnetic thin film layer. In this case, crystal structures of the first and the second soft magnetic thin films should appropriately be selected and combined.

Soft magnetic thin films of alloys of FeCoNi or FeCoDy and laminates

Disclosed is a soft magnetic thin film which has superior soft magnetic characteristics and high saturation magnetic flux density. The magnetic thin film is formed by physical vapor deposition process and composed of Fe, Ga, and Si with optional inclusion of Co, Ru, or Cr.

Soft magnetic thin film

A magnetic alloy thin film consisting essentially of a first Fe-Al-Si or Fe-Ni alloy thin film of high permeability and a second Fe-Si alloy thin film directly formed on the first thin film and having high saturation magnetic flux density. The ratio in thickness of the first and second films is preferably in the range of from 1:0.1 to 2.

Magnetic composite film

A magnetic structure having improved permeability characteristics at very high frequencies and comprising a plurality of magnetic metal layers, together with electrically insulating layers which are interposed between successive magnetic metal layers to form a laminate therewith, and at least one conductive strip electrically connecting together at least two of the magnetic metal layers, the conductive strip being of lesser width than the surface on which it is located, and serving to reduce eddy current losses.
