An inkjet recording medium includes a substrate having a resin layer, a bonding layer disposed on the resin layer, and an ink-receiving layer disposed on the bonding layer. The surface of the inkjet recording medium on the ink-receiving layer side of the inkjet recording medium has a 20&#xb0; glossiness of 13.0 or more. The bonding layer contains an ultraviolet inhibitor at a content of 5.0% by mass or more and 35.0% by mass or less based on the total mass of the bonding layer.

A recording method includes a step of applying a first ink to a recording medium; and a step of recording an image on the recording medium by applying a second ink so that the second ink at least partially overlaps a region to which the first ink has been applied. The first ink is an aqueous ink containing a silver particle. The second ink is an aqueous ink containing a coloring material. The recording medium has an ink receiving layer that contains a halide ion selected from the group consisting of a bromide ion and an iodide ion. The ink receiving layer has a halide ion content (mmol/m) of 0.1 mmol/mor more to 0.8 mmol/mor less.

An ink jet printing method includes printing an image on a printing medium including a transparent substrate and an ink-receiving layer on one side of the transparent substrate by applying a first ink and a second ink onto the surface of the ink-receiving layer of the printing medium in such a manner that the first ink and the second ink are at least partially superposed one on the other. The first ink is an aqueous ink containing silver particles, and the second ink is an aqueous ink containing a dye. The particle size at 50% in the cumulative volume distribution of the silver particles is larger than the average pore size of the ink-receiving layer.

A recording medium includes a substrate and an ink-receiving layer as the top layer. The ink-receiving layer contains inorganic particles. The inorganic particles contain cationized colloidal silica, alumina hydrate, and fumed alumina. A content of the cationized colloidal silica is 5% or more by mass and 25% or less by mass based on a content of the inorganic particles. The mass ratio of the alumina hydrate to the fumed alumina (alumina hydrate content:fumed alumina content) is from 95:5 to 55:45.

A recording medium includes a substrate, and a first and a second ink receiving layer over the substrate in this order from the side close to the substrate. The first ink receiving layer contains fumed silica, alumina, and zirconium compound. In the first ink receiving layer, the mass ratio of the fumed silica to the alumina is in the range of 40:60 to 60:40. The zirconium compound content in the first ink receiving layer is in the range of 0.1% by mass to 3.0% by mass relative to the total mass of the first ink receiving layer. HM1 is a Martens hardness when an indenter is pushed at a 500 mN load over 180 seconds from a surface of the recording medium into a 1 &#x3bc;m depth in a thickness direction thereof. HM2 is a Martens hardness when the indenter is pushed up to a position where the indenter is not in contact with the surface and is then pushed at a 500 mN load over 180 seconds from a pressing starting position into a 1 &#x3bc;m depth in the thickness direction at the same point as that at which the indenter is first pushed.

A recording medium including, in the following order, a base, an ink-receiving layer containing inorganic particles, and a protective layer. The protective layer contains colloidal silica, gas phase process silica, and at least one kind of particles selected from resin particles and wet process silica particles. The average particle size of the at least one kind of particles is 1.5 &#x3bc;m or more.

A recording medium includes a substrate, a first ink receiving layer and a second ink receiving layer in that order. The first ink receiving layer contains at least one inorganic pigment selected from the group consisting of alumina, hydrated alumina and fumed silica, polyvinyl alcohol, and a boric acid compound. Recording medium and process for producing the same

A composition analysis of the recording medium performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy while etching is performed from a surface side to a support side provides a ratio of the amount of Si element to the total amount of Al element and Si element at an etching time of 0 minutes of 10 atomic percent or more and 90 atomic percent or less and a ratio of the amount of Si element to the total amount of Al element and Si element at an etching time of 5 minutes of 50 atomic percent or more.
