An outer periphery of the tubular housing includes a parallel surface, a pressure contact surface and a connection surface. The parallel surface is formed parallel to an axial direction of the spark plug. The pressure contact surface is located closer to a tip of the spark plug and more radially inward than the parallel surface. The pressure contact surface has a tapered shape in that a diameter decreases toward the tip. The pressure contact surface is pressed against a cylinder head when installed in the internal combustion engine. The connection surface is located closer to a base of the spark plug than an extension line in a longitudinal cross-section of the spark plug parallel to the axial direction including a plug central axis. The connection surface connects an outer peripheral end of the pressure contact surface with a longitudinal end of the parallel surface.

An ignition coil for an internal combustion engine has a primary coil and a secondary coil, a case, a high voltage connection terminal, and a conduction terminal. The high voltage connection terminal is accommodated in the case in a state being sealed by a filling resin. The high voltage connection terminal is disposed in a state inclined an aligned direction of the secondary coil and the conduction terminal, and is configured to be elastically deformable. The conduction terminal includes an engaging part for engaging a terminal distal end portion of the high voltage connection terminal and a supporting part for supporting a terminal intermediate portion of the high voltage connection terminal which is a portion closer to a connecting portion with the secondary coil than the terminal distal end portion is. In the aligned direction, the terminal distal end portion contacts with the engaging part from a side opposite to a secondary coil side, and the terminal intermediate portion contacts with the supporting part from the secondary coil side.

Ignition coil for internal combustion engine

An ignition coil for an internal combustion engine is provided with a primary coil, a secondary coil, a center core, an outer peripheral core, a core cover, a case, and a filling resin. The core cover is formed to cover an inner surface, a surface on one end in the penetration direction, and a surface on the other end in the penetration direction of the outer peripheral core. The core cover has a one end-side cover part, that is, a portion located on a high voltage side of the secondary coil, the cover part facing the surface on one end of the outer peripheral core in the penetration direction, and being formed with a wall portion having an inner surface, an outer surface and a surface on one end in the penetration direction, all of which are formed with a plurality of continuous grooves. The plurality of continuous grooves are filled with the filling resin for filling in the case.

An ignition coil for an internal combustion engine according to the present embodiment includes a primary coil, a secondary coil, a center core, an outer circumferential core, an igniter, a case, a connector unit, and a relay member. The relay member electrically connects the outer circumferential core and a grounding terminal member. The relay member includes: a base portion provided along the rear surface of an engagement wall; a standing portion standing rearward of the base portion; and a curved portion that extends from a rear end of the standing portion in a vertical direction Z orthogonal to a coil axis direction X and is curved to protrude rearward. The base portion is in contact with an inner grounding terminal at one end in the vertical direction Z. The standing portion is provided further outward than the igniter in a horizontal direction Y. The curved portion is elastically deformed and is urged against a front surface of the outer circumferential core.

An angular gasket for a spark plug used for mounting a spark plug to a wall of a combustion engine. The gasket provided with a first section with predetermined thickness, having a plurality of concave portions provided as grooves intermittently disposed along a circumferential direction on a first surface being a wall section of the gasket, at an inner circumferential edge thereof. The gasket further provided with convex portions on a section of the inner radial side, with respect to the concave portions projecting toward the inner radial side thereof, at the inner circumferential edge, and a second section being thinner than the a thickest part of the gasket, and greater in thickness than the first section, disposed between the plurality of concave portions of the inner circumferential edge surface.

Spark plug, spark plug gasket, and manufacturing method thereof

An ignition coil for an internal-combustion engine, including an assembly of a primary coil, a secondary coil, and a central core, and a ring-shaped outer core surrounding the assembly. The assembly includes at least one first protrusion protruding from a first end surface of the secondary spool. The at least one first protrusion is in contact with an inside surface of the outer core and offset from the central core toward an opening of the outer core in a penetration direction of the outer core. The assembly further includes at least one second protrusion protruding from a second end surface of the primary spool. The at least one second protrusion protrudes beyond a second axial end surface of the central core so as to be in contact with the inside surface of the outer core and extends substantially the entire length of the outer core in the penetration direction.

An ignition coil for an internal combustion engine includes a wire-wound resistor. The wire-wound resistor includes a core material, a conductor winding, a pair of metal caps disposed at both ends of the core material, the pair of metal caps in contact with the conductor winding, and a resin coating material disposed so as to be in close contact with the core material and the conductor winding. The resin coating material is filled between the conductive winding and the resin coating material is formed to cover the conductor winding from an outer peripheral side of the conductor winding The metal cap includes a bottom portion and a cylindrical side portion. An inner peripheral side of the side portion is provide with ridges projecting internally formed along a direction crossing a winding direction of the conductor winding.

An ignition coil includes a primary coil, a secondary coil, a center core, a case, and a filler resin. A connection terminal is connected to a high-voltage-side winding end portion of the secondary coil. A cylindrical high-voltage tower section is formed projecting outside the case. A high-voltage terminal connected to the connection terminal is disposed within the high-voltage tower section. The connection terminal has a contacting portion and a conducting portion. The contacting portion comes into contact with the high-voltage terminal. The conducting portion ensures electrical conduction with the high-voltage terminal. The contacting portion comes into contact with and presses against the high-voltage terminal in an axial direction of the high-voltage tower section. The contacting section is pressed against the high-voltage terminal in the axial direction such that the conducting portion is pressed against and placed in contact with the high-voltage terminal in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction.

In an ignition coil for an internal combustion engine, a column section and a notched section are provided in a side wall section of a case section of the ignition coil. A ventilation opening is formed in an up/down direction in the column section. The ventilation opening communicates with a ventilation passage formed between a sealing rubber and the case section and is open in an upper end section. A cover surrounding the column section and covering the upper end section is provided in the side wall section. A sealing section sealing the notched section is provided in the cover. The ignition coil has a filler resin that fills a space within the case section being in continuous contact with the sealing section and the side wall section and fixing the cover to the side wall section.

An ignition coil for the internal combustion engine has a cylinder portion and a head portion. A pillar portion that forms a part of a ventilation passage that communicates inside and outside of a plug hole via a sealing member, and a cover portion that covers the pillar portion without blockading an upper opening of a ventilation opening of the pillar portion are formed on a side of the head portion.

An axial end portion of a dielectric sheet, which is wound around a central core of an ignition coil, includes an axially projecting portion, which projects from an axial end surface of the central core positioned radially inward of primary and secondary coils in a case. An inner peripheral side axial end corner and an outer peripheral side axial end corner in the axially projecting portion are respectively formed into a blunt smooth round shape. Dielectric resin is filled in spaces in the case. Alternatively, the axially projecting portion may have a folded end portion, which includes a plurality of generally arcuate segments folded one after another on one circumferential side thereof.

An ignition coil includes a cylindrical portion capable of being inserted into a plughole of an engine case. The cylindrical portion has a base end and a tip end, respectively, in an axial direction of the cylindrical portion. The cylindrical portion has an elastically deformable outer peripheral portion that engages with the plughole to fix an outer periphery of the cylindrical portion with respect thereto.

An ignition coil is disclosed. The ignition coil includes an insulative material, a body, and a head coupled to the body. A portion of the insulative material is included in the body, and a portion of the insulative material is included in the head. The head includes a casing, a flange for coupling to an engine case, and a connector adapted to be connected to an external device. The head also includes a conducting terminal with a connector pin, an exposed contact, and a connecting part. The connector pin is coupled to the connector, the exposed contact is coupled to the casing or the flange, and the connecting part couples the exposed contact and the connector pin. A portion of the connecting part is embedded in the insulative material, and wherein a remaining portion is embedded in the casing. A method of manufacturing the ignition coil is also disclosed.
