An operation input device system and method are provided. The operation input device includes a touch pad having an operation plate on a surface of which an operation surface is formed. The touch pad is configured to sense an object in contact with or in proximity to the operation surface to receive input corresponding to a position of the sensed object. A hole portion provided to penetrate through the operation plate and a protrusion member inserted into the hole portion. The operation input device also includes a drive mechanism provided on a back surface side of the operation plate and configured to cause an advancing/retracting operation of the protrusion member along a direction intersecting the operation surface between a first state in which a distal end portion of the protrusion member is above the operation surface and a second state in which the distal end portion is not above the operation surface.

Operation input device

Information is acquired that indicates a current road on which a vehicle is traveling. Information is acquired that relates to a plurality of branching roads that branch off from the current road at a branching point that lies ahead in the direction of movement of the vehicle. In a situation where route guidance is not being used, a determination is made as to whether or not there is a possibility that the vehicle will proceed on one of the branching roads that is of a different type from the current road, instead of on one of the branching roads that is of the same type as the current road and has an attribute that is of the same type as an attribute of the current road. If it is determined that there is a possibility that the vehicle will proceed on one of the branching roads that is of a different type, guidance is performed that informs the driver that the possibility exists.

Navigation devices, methods, and programs obtain information indicating a route of a host vehicle, obtain information indicating a position of the host vehicle, and obtain information indicating a form of a number (N) of successive curves (where N is an integer of 2 or more) in front of the host vehicle position on the route. The devices, methods, and programs excite a vibrator provided at a position where contact with a driver of the host vehicle is possible in a vibration mode corresponding to the form of the N successive curves when the host vehicle reaches a position at a predetermined distance from the closest curve among the N successive curves.

A braking force application control is performed when a change in a driver's posture takes place while a brake pedal is turned on when a vehicle is stopped. As a consequence, in a case in which the driver's posture changes such as when the driver turns to a rear seat side to get something without intending to release depression of the brake pedal, creep of the vehicle that the driver does not intend to happen can be inhibited. Furthermore, the vehicle stop retention is only performed when a travelling direction is a forward direction or a seatbelt is worn. As a result, performance of the vehicle stop retention can be inhibited when it is considered that the driver intentionally desires to let the vehicle creep.
