An optical apparatus having a holding portion and a tubular portion further includes a light source, a light guide which is formed of a medium having a refractive index higher than 1, and an optical converting portion. The light guide has a first light guiding area having an incidence end surface and a second light guiding area having an exit end surface. A diameter of the incidence end surface is larger than a diameter of the exit end surface, and at least a part of the second light guiding area is included in the tubular portion.

An endoscope system includes a light source that emits illumination light, an image sensor that captures an image of an object toward which the illumination light is emitted, and a processor. The processor is configured to determine whether a fluid is present in the object. If the fluid is not present in the object, the processor switches to a first observation mode in which to illuminate the object by first illumination light. If the fluid is present in the object, the processor switches to a second observation mode in which to illuminate the object by second illumination light. The second illumination light includes is larger than the first illumination light in a relative ratio of long wavelength components.

A light source device includes a detector that detects a remaining capacity, and a prediction calculation circuit that calculates a capacity consumption predictive value indicating a ratio of consuming a capacity of a supply source within a predetermined period of time in each illumination mode. The light source device further includes a capability calculation circuit that calculates a driving capability of the supply source corresponding to each of the illumination modes, based on the remaining capacity and the capacity consumption predictive value; and a reporting unit that reports the driving capability.

An illumination unit includes a light guide to guide primary light, a conversion member to convert the primary light into secondary light, and a holder holding an exit end of the light guide and the conversion member. The holder includes an entrance portion that the primary light enters, an exit portion to emit illumination light including the secondary light, and a fixing portion fixing the conversion member between the entrance portion and the exit portion in a direction of a central axis of the primary light. A light source device includes a primary light source that emits primary light, a light guide that guides the primary light, an optical conversion unit that converts the primary light emitted from the light guide and having a first light distribution angle into secondary light having a second light distribution angle and emits the secondary light, and a light distribution adjustment unit that adjusts the secondary light to illumination light having a third light distribution angle and emits the illumination light. The light distribution adjustment unit and the optical conversion unit slide each other. A light source apparatus irradiates an observation target with first light in a wavelength region which does not include a wavelength region where an absorption peak of a target substance included in the observation target is present and second light in a wavelength region where the absorption peak is present. An image acquiring circuit includes an emphasized image information generating circuit which generates emphasized image information on the basis of first image information acquired by an imaging apparatus when the observation target is irradiated with the first light and second image information acquired by the imaging apparatus when the observation target is irradiated with the second light.

An illumination apparatus includes a first wavelength converter which absorbs part of the first excitation light and emits first wavelength-converted light, a second wavelength converter which absorbs part of the first excitation light and emits second wavelength-converted light, a reflector including a reflecting surface which is arranged to surround the members, and a holder which holds the members. A first region where light distribution angles of light emitted from the members have a predetermined value or less and a second region where the light distribution angle is less than the predetermined value are present in a region surrounded by the reflecting surface. Illumination apparatus

A subject observation system includes a light source and an image obtaining unit. The light source emits observation light including a spectral component of a wavelength and applies the light to a subject. The image obtaining unit images reflected light from an irradiation region of the subject to which the light has been applied and obtains at least two observation images in different wavelength regions based on image signals corresponding to a blue region, a green region and a red region. The light includes components of light emission spectra in the regions. The light emission spectrum in the blue region is smaller in a wavelength region in which absorption intensity for a specific observation target in the subject is relatively low than in other regions.

A light source device having a wavelength converting unit having a first wavelength converting member for absorbing a first excitation light having a first wavelength range, and emitting a first wavelength-converted light; and a second wavelength converting member for absorbing a second excitation light having a second wavelength range, and emitting a second wavelength-converted light, wherein the wavelength converting unit emits a first emission light having a first spectral shape when irradiated with the first excitation light, and emits a second emission light having a second spectral shape when irradiated with the second excitation light, and wherein at least a portion of the first wavelength converting member and at least a portion of the second wavelength converting members are arranged within an irradiation space that is commonly irradiated by both the first excitation light and the second excitation light.

A light source apparatus includes a light conversion unit converting primary light into secondary light. The light conversion unit includes a light conversion member, a holder and a reflection member. The holder includes an incidence portion through which the primary light enters and an exit portion through which at least part of the secondary light exits in a direction crossing an optical axis of the primary light. The light conversion member is arranged on the optical axis of the primary light. Part of the secondary light allowed to exit from the light conversion member in a direction different from a direction toward the exit portion is reflected by the reflection member and exited from the exit portion. The ratio of reentering to the light conversion member is reduced.
