A control unit acquires an interval between weaving threads in a woven fabric, and changes an interval between ruled lines constituting a ruled line group in a test pattern on the basis of the acquired interval between weaving threads. When the interval between weaving threads in the woven fabric matches the interval between ruled lines constituting the ruled line group in the test pattern or when these intervals are in the relationship of integer multiple, ruled lines in the test pattern match the interval between weaving threads in the woven fabric. When they match, it is difficult to recognize the difference between the test pattern and the shadow of the weaving thread in the woven fabric. The control unit changes the interval between ruled lines constituting the ruled line group in the test pattern on the basis of the interval between weaving threads. This enables the difference recognition to be less difficult.

A printing apparatus includes a transport section, a printing section, and a control section. There is provided a recording apparatus in which it is possible to use a suitable reaction liquid to be applied on the recording medium, out of multiple types of reaction liquids. A recording apparatus includes a transport mechanism that transports a recording medium, a reaction liquid applying mechanism that selectively applies, on the recording medium, either a first reaction liquid that reacts with ink or a second reaction liquid that reacts with the ink and is different from the first reaction liquid, and an ink discharge mechanism that is positioned downstream from the reaction liquid applying mechanism in the transport direction of the recording medium and discharges the ink onto the recording medium. It is preferable that the reaction liquid applying mechanism include a first reaction liquid discharge unit that discharges the first reaction liquid and a second reaction liquid discharge unit that discharges the second reaction liquid.

Recording apparatus

A printing apparatus is provided with a transport mechanism section that transports work, a printing mechanism section that has multiple nozzle groups, which perform printing by discharging an ink onto the work as liquid droplets, and control section that controls the actions of the transport mechanism section and the printing mechanism section. In addition, the printing mechanism section includes a first nozzle row that forms a first printing region, a second nozzle row that forms a second printing region, and an overlapping section in which the first nozzle row and the second nozzle row overlap. Further, the control section prohibits overlapping of the first printing region with the second printing region on the work when forming the third printing region.

A printing method uses a reaction liquid containing an aggregating agent capable of causing the aggregation of a color material. This printing method includes: applying a first reaction liquid to a recording medium; applying a background color ink that contains a color material for a background color to a region of the recording medium which is coated with the first reaction liquid; drying the recording medium coated with the background color ink by heating the recording medium; applying a second reaction liquid to a region of the dried recording medium which is coated with the background color ink; and applying an image forming ink that contains a color material having a color different from that of the background color ink to a region of the recording medium which is coated with the second reaction liquid.

The invention relates to a printing method of creating an image on a medium by discharging a plurality of colored inks each containing a colorant and clear ink containing no colorant from a nozzle toward the medium. Further the colored inks are discharged from the nozzle toward a unit region defined in the medium by an amount determined on the basis of respective amounts of cyan ink and magenta ink included in the colored inks to be discharged to the unit region.

A printing device has a support and heating unit, a head for discharging color image ink and background image ink on a medium supported by the support and heating unit, and a controller. The controller is configured to perform one of a color image printing process for discharging the color image ink and printing a color image on the medium, and a background image printing process for discharging the background image ink and printing a background image that is a background of the color image on the medium, and to perform the other one of the processes subsequent to the one of the process. The controller is further configured to execute a wait process of evacuating the head to an evacuation position from above the support and heating unit to have the head wait at the evacuation position between the color image printing process and the background image printing process.

Printing device and printing method

A printing device has a support and heating unit for supporting and heating a medium, a head for discharging color image ink and background image ink on the medium supported by the support and heating unit, and a controller.
