It is an object of the invention to provide a block polyisocyanate compound with excellent storage stability. The block polyisocyanate compound of the invention has the following construction. A block polyisocyanate compound having at least one block isocyanate group selected from the group consisting of a block isocyanate group represented by formula (I), block isocyanate group represented by formula (II) and block isocyanate group represented by formula (III), and a hydrophilic group.

The present invention provides a method for forming a multilayer coating film, the method comprising (1) coating on a substrate an aqueous first colored coating composition containing a pigment and a hydroxy-containing polyester resin-containing film-forming resin having an acid value of 30 mg KOH/g or less; (2) coating an aqueous second colored coating composition containing a film-forming resin and a copolymer obtained by copolymerization of monomer components containing a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a hydrophilic group, and a macromonomer having a polymerizable unsaturated group and a backbone having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 10,000, obtained by polymerization of a monomer component having 5 to 100 mass % of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a Calkyl group; (3) coating a clear coating composition; and (4) simultaneously curing the three coating films formed in steps (1) to (3).

Method for forming multi-layered coating film

An object of the present invention is to provide an aqueous coating composition capable of forming a coating film having a superior finishing appearance. The present invention provides an aqueous coating composition comprising a polyester resin containing a predetermined or greater amount of long chain, straight-chain dicarboxylic acid and/or straight-chain diols having a predetermined or greater carbon number and having hydroxy groups and acid values within predetermined ranges; a urethane-associated thickener having a hydrophobic group and/or a polyacrylicacid-based thickener having a hydrophobic group; a curing agent; and a hydrophobic solvent, wherein the contents of the thickener and the hydrophobic solvent are within a specific range based on the gross amount of the polyester resin and the curing agent. The present invention also provides a method for forming a multilayer coating film using the aqueous coating composition.

This invention provides a clear paint composition for motorcars which contains 10-80% by weight of polyester resin containing units derived from alicyclic polybasic acid and/or alicyclic polyhydric alcohol, 5-50% by weight of polyisocyanate compound and 0-50% by weight of acrylic resin; and which forms coating having Universal Hardness (HU) of not more than 500 N/mm .

This invention provides a paint composition for motorcars, which comprises a carboxyl-containing polyester resin which contains a unit or units derived from alicyclic polybasic acid (a) and/or alicyclic polyhydric alcohol (b), and a vinyl polymer having epoxy group(s) and hydroxyl group(s) within one molecule, and which is capable of forming cured coating having Universal Hardness (HU) not higher than 500 N/mm .
