A state finding apparatus includes an obtaining unit and a finding unit. A radio-controlled timepiece includes: a radio wave reception unit that receives satellite waves and extracts an incoming code sequence encoded in the received satellite waves; a counter unit that counts a date/time of the radio-controlled timepiece; and a processor that: generates an expected code sequence containing at least a portion of a preamble code and a code generated on the basis of the date/time counted by the counter unit that are expected to be part of the incoming code sequence that is extracted, detects a match between the expected code sequence that has been generated and the incoming code sequence by sequentially comparing the expected code sequence with the incoming code sequence, and acquires a present date/time, as indicated by the satellite waves, in accordance with a detection timing of the match, as measured by the data/time counted by the counter unit.

A patch antenna includes a dielectric body, radiation element, earth conductor and feed member. The dielectric body increases in cross-sectional area from a first end toward a second end thereof. The radiation element is disposed on a surface of the dielectric body, and each side of the radiation element has a length adjusted based on the frequency of a radio wave to be received and the effective permittivity of the dielectric body. The earth conductor is disposed on the bottom surface of the dielectric body. The feed member is electrically connected to the radiation element.

Disclosed is an electronic device including an antenna device which is constituted by a plate like radiator being provided on a top surface side of a plate like dielectric and a plate like grounding conductor being provided on a back surface side of the plate like dielectric, a solar panel which is arranged on a top surface side of the antenna device and a circuit board which is arranged on a back surface side of the antenna device and electrically connected with an electrode formed at an outer circumference of the solar panel, and the outer circumference of the solar panel, excluding the electrode, is formed so as not to exceed outside from an outer circumference of the radiator, and the electrode projects outside from the outer circumference of the radiator and an outer circumference of the dielectric and is electrically connected with the circuit board at outside of the dielectric.

A patch antenna device of the present invention includes a rectangular dielectric plate, a planar emission electrode, a grounding electrode and a power supply member. The planar emission electrode is provided with a slit at each position corresponding to each short side of the rectangular dielectric plate and both slits extend toward an opposing short side each other and arranged symmetrically. A power supply position of the power supply member is deviated from a center of the planar emission electrode so as to obtain circular polarization characteristics. As a result a patch antenna device having a high gain and circular polarization characteristics can be realized by a simple structure.

An electronic apparatus includes an antenna device, a solar panel disposed on a front side of the antenna device and a circuit board disposed on a back side of the antenna device. The dielectric has a through hole formed therein, and the solar panel has electrode pads on a back side thereof, electrode pads being exposed within the through hole in the dielectric. Disclosed is a radio wave receiver including an antenna to receive a radio wave, a tuning unit to switch a frequency characteristic of the antenna in a stepwise fashion, an oscillation unit to oscillate the antenna and a circuit section of the tuning unit, a receiving process unit to carry out a signal process by extracting a signal of a desired wave among received signals which are received from the antenna, a search control unit in which the oscillation unit is made to generate an oscillation signal at the circuit section and in which the oscillation signal searches a setting condition of the tuning unit which is extracted in the receiving process unit by switching a setting of the tuning unit and a search range deciding unit to selectively decide an adjustable range in which the switching of the setting of the tuning unit is carried out by the search control unit so as to be a specific adjustable range which is a portion of an entire adjustable range of the tuning unit corresponding to a frequency of the desired wave.

Radio wave receiver

A radio wave receiver comprising an antenna structure placed within a case. The antenna structure has a rod-like core around which a coil is wound. A pair of opposite external magnetic members are each provided in a respective one of a pair of cavities provided so as to extend along the inner periphery of the case from adjacent the respective ends of the rod-like core toward the end points of an inner diameter of the case parallel to the axis of the rod-like core. The pair of external magnetic members is substantially the same permeability as the core. Thus, the antenna core is magnetically coupled to the pair of external magnetic members.

In an antenna device of a wristwatch, a pair of external magnetic members each attached to a respective one of both ends of a magnetic core effectively collects the magnetic flux of a standard time and frequency signal. The collected magnetic flux passes through the core around which a coil is wound, thereby inducing an electromotive force and hence improving the reception accuracy of the signal. The pair of external magnetic members screens out undesirable external magnetism which would otherwise influence motors that drive a hand shaft and hands, thereby achieving accurate hand driving and improving the high watch accuracy.

An antenna device includes an antenna for receiving a time information radio wave, and an antenna support member. In the antenna, a coil is wound around a center portion of a core. In the support member, a non-magnetic portion supports two magnetic portions independently and both end portions of the core of the antenna are magnetically coupled with the magnetic portions. A radio wave controlled timepiece includes a case in an inner space of which the antenna and the support member are installed as described above. In the inner space, a time counting unit, a time display unit connected to the time counting unit, and a time updating unit configured to update the time displayed on the display unit, based on the time information radio wave received by the antenna, are installed.

An electronic device which includes a radio wave impermeably cylindrical case, a radio wave permeable cover covering an opening in one end of the case, a radio wave impermeable cover covering an opening in the other end of the case, and a circuit board and an antenna, both arranged between the two covers in the inner space. The antenna is connected to the board and includes an elongated core and a coil wound around an intermediate portion of the core. Magnetic flux introducing portions are provided on both end portions of the core, a radio wave permeable partition plate is arranged between the permeable cover and the antenna in the inner space, and a pair of flat and magnetic members are arranged between the partition plate and the antenna in the inner space and are magnetically connected to the flux introducing portions.
