Asymmetric AC to DC autotransformer for turboelectric propulsion, and associated systems and methods are described herein. In one embodiment, an asymmetric AC to DC autotransformer includes: a first coil, a second coil and a third coil of a delta winding Each coil is energized at its corresponding input phase. A first plurality of correction windings coupled to the first coil, a second plurality of correction windings coupled to the second coil, and a third plurality of correction windings coupled to the third coil. A bridge rectifier having a plurality of rectifiers is coupled to respective individual correction windings. Phases of the individual correction windings are asymmetric such that individual phase voltages are controlled relative to the opposite input phase. Voltages are unbalanced relative to neutral.

Asymmetric 24-pulse autotransformer rectifier unit for turboelectric propulsion, and associated systems and methods

A power converter has a transformer having three primary windings configured to receive respective phases of a three-phase alternating current (AC) input signal in a delta configuration and three secondary windings, each split into two portions, wherein the portions are coupled together in a regular hexagon. The power converter includes a rectifier having a first rectifier path coupled between taps of the secondary windings and a positive output of the power converter and a second rectifier path coupled between taps of the secondary windings and a negative output. One of the secondary windings may be reversed with respect to the other secondary windings. The primary windings may be split with a corresponding secondary winding sandwiched between portions of the primary. One of the paths may have a different inductance than the other path.

AC/DC power conversion system and method of manufacture of same

Three coils, each having several serial windings, have selected windings connected in a delta. Input AC power is applied through outrigger windings at the delta apices. At least two strategically located, direct tap, natural output points are provided at each side of the delta. For 6-phase output, only the six natural output points are required. For 9-phase output, an additional central output terminal connects to each side of the delta through a stub winding. The 6-phase or 9-phase output is passed to a rectifier circuit.

AC to DC Power converter for aerospace applications

An AC-to-DC converter and regulator normally receives power from an AC utility line and provides a stable DC output to a load, such as the power amplifier and transmitter of a cell site. The DC output, or a separate dedicated output from the converter, is used to charge a backup battery when AC power is available. If AC power is interrupted, the backup battery provides power to the load by way of a separate DC-to-DC differential converter. The battery is connected in parallel with the differential converter input, but in series with the differential converter output. Thus, the differential converter receives operating power from the battery, and outputs a voltage which is summed with the battery output to drive the load. A control circuit for the differential converter senses the voltage provided to the load, and supplies a signal to the differential converter to adjust its output as necessary to maintain the optimum aggregate output to the load.

Power supply for cellular communication stations

One PWM control circuit is located in the primary side of a power converter and is isolated from the secondary side, and another PWM control circuit is located in the secondary side of the converter and is isolated from the primary side. The first PWM control circuit is powered by a direct tap to the input line of the converter and, during start-up, supplies a low power square wave coupled directly to switching transistors of an inverter of the power converter. After start-up, the second PWM control circuit is powered by a direct tap to the secondary side and supplies a regulating square wave output to the switching transistors through an isolation component such as a coil. After start-up, the primary PWM control circuit is disabled so that, under normal operating conditions, the power supply is regulated only by the second PWM control circuit. The improved power converter has the advantages of direct feedback to the second PWM, without an additional, isolated power supply being required to drive the second PWM.

Power converter with dual PWM control

A generally rectangular housing base or body portion has an upward-opening central cavity and mounting ears extending from each corner. A wiring board on which electronic circuit components are mounted is supported in the cavity of the base. Each end portion of the wiring board extends from the cavity between two of the mounting ears. The top of the cavity is closed by a lid to enclose the circuit components. The opposite ends of the wiring board projecting from the housing cavity are adapted for connection of different pin or stud terminal connectors so that the housing-board unit is capable of being easily joined to or arranged with other electrical parts or units.
