A base station registers a mobile station subjected to the call reception control of the base station. When connection between the mobile station registered by the base station and a higher-level device of the base station is terminated after detecting that the mobile station is located in a communication area of the base station, the base station causes the higher-level device to maintain information indicating that the mobile station is located in the communication area, without notifying the higher-level device of termination of the connection. When a call addressed to the mobile station is detected after termination of the connection between the mobile station and the higher-level device, the base station gives a notification about detection of the call.

Apparatus and method for controlling call reception

A mobile communication system has a plurality of nodes, hierarchically connected to each other, including a source base station and a target base station. A plurality of base transceiver stations and at least one extension device are connected, via an IP network that uses internet protocol. The extension device shares resources of the base transceiver stations by arbitrary changing a connection relationship between the base transceiver stations and the extension devices. When a mobile terminal communicates with a core network, the extension device uses the resources of at least one base transceiver stations according to fluctuation in the amount of traffic.

In a network system including a radio base station to be accommodated in a mobile telephone network through an IP network, the radio base station, when receiving a calling request from a calling terminal, specifies a called terminal of the calling request. If the called terminal can receive the calling request by using another radio base station different from the base station connected to the IP network, it is tried to establish a data communication line, in which the radio base station and the another radio base station are connected through the IP network not by way of the mobile telephone network, so as to exchange the communication data between the calling terminal and the called terminal.

In a network system including base stations accommodated in a mobile phone network through an IP network, when a mobile phone terminal as a calling terminal makes a calling request and the calling request from the calling terminal is sent through a source base station to the mobile phone network and then from the mobile phone network through a destination base station to a mobile phone terminal as a called terminal, it is judged whether the source base station and the destination base station are both connected to the mobile phone network through the same IP network, and when the source base station and the destination base station are both connected to the mobile phone network through the same IP network, a data transmission path is established between the calling terminal and the called terminal that directly connects the source base station and the destination base station through the same IP network and without via the mobile phone network.
