Systems and methods provide steering of roaming (SoR) information during a user equipment (UE) mobility registration process. In other systems and methods, instead of triggering mobility and periodic registration, a UE performs initial registration until a valid SoR is received in a visited country or network as long as a subscriber identification module (SIM) or a universal SIM (USIM) of the UE indicates that the UE is expected to receive SoR information due to initial registration in a visited public land mobile network (VPLMN).

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for SoR list management and PLMN selection based on an SoR list. A UE may receive an SoR container which may include a list of OPLMNs. The UE may store a prior list of OPLMNs stored on a USIM of the UE on a memory of the UE. The UE replace the prior list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM with the list of OPLMNs included in the SoR container. The UE may consider the prior list of OPLMNs as a lower priority list as compared to the list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM. Additionally, in response to determining to move from a current PLMN, the UE may scan for a new PLMN based on the list of OPLMNs stored on the USIM.

Steering of roaming PLMN list update and management

Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing techniques for support recovering service in a radio access technology (RAT) for a multi-mode user equipment (UE). The UE can be registered to communicate in a first RAT, and the UE is in an idle mode, and the UE is in a disable mode with respect to communication in the second RAT. A cell selection for the second RAT can be performed. Afterwards, a registration procedure with a wireless communication system to communicate in the second RAT can be performed. Hence, the UE can receive wireless service from the wireless communication system through a base station associated with the second RAT.

Recovering service in a radio access technology (RAT) for a multi-mode user equipment

The UE determines whether a network with which the UE is communicating supports a non-voice IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) service and when the network supports the non-voice IMS service, initiates an IMS Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session establishment with the network.

The wireless device is a single-radio wireless device that includes wireless circuitry that supports an active voice or video connection via a single radio access network of a cellular wireless network at a time. To send or receive data for a second SIM/eSIM, when an active voice or video connection for a first SIM/eSIM uses the wireless circuitry, the single-radio wireless device can i) establish parallel, linked protocol data unit (PDU) sessions for different SIMs, ii) multiplex traffic for different SIMs over a common radio connection with SIM information embedded in protocol headers for routing by network equipment, and/or iii) use an additional dedicated bearer using a first, active SIM for each data network name (DNN) over which to route for a second, suspended SIM.
