A tension rod has an outer shaft slidably receiving an inner shaft. A tension mechanism includes a partially threaded rod with a threaded portion. A first end extends from the threaded portion and is adapted for fixing to an inner surface of the inner shaft; a second end has a tapered body with a greater transverse dimension closer to the second end. A wedge has a slot and an inner surface in facing sliding engagement with the tapered body between a nut threadedly engaged with the threaded portion and the second end. The nut is rotationally fixed to the outer shaft. Upon relative rotation of the inner and outer shafts, the nut moves along the threaded portion toward the second end, the wedge abutting and moving with the nut. The wedge contacts the tapered body, expands radially, and contacts the inner surface of the outer shaft, locking the shafts together.

Tension rod mechanism

An adjustable rod assembly includes first and second tubes having first and second arcuate portions, third and fourth tubes of generally straight configurations, first and second end supports, and a tension rod mechanism fixedly secured within the third tube. A first end of the first tube is telescopingly received within the third tube and a second end of the first tube is telescopingly received within the second tube. The third tube is rotatable relative to the first tube and is rotatably secured within the fourth tube. The fourth tube is secured to the first end support and the second tube is secured to the second end support. The tension rod mechanism rotates with the third tube and has a threaded portion configured to extend from an interior of the third tube to an interior of the first tube.

Adjustable tension-mounted curved rod assembly

An adjustable rod assembly includes first and second tubes having first and second arcuate portions, third and fourth tubes of generally straight configurations, first and second end supports, and a tension rod mechanism secured within the third tube. The first tube has a first end, a second opposing end, and a planar surface extending from the second end toward the first end. The first tube is telescopingly received within the third tube and the second tube. The third tube is rotatable relative to the first tube and is rotatably secured within the fourth tube. The fourth tube is secured to the first end support and the second tube is secured to the second end support. The tension rod mechanism rotates with the third tube and has a threaded portion configured to extend from an interior of the third tube to an interior of the first tube.

An adjustable pole caddy includes an elongated pole, a shelf including a generally planar surface for supporting at least one object thereon, a clamp having a first aperture and a second aperture, and a fastener extending through the first aperture of the clamp. The second aperture extends around at least a portion of an outer periphery of the pole. In a locked position of the fastener and clamp, an end portion of the fastener engages the pole and at least a portion of the shelf removably engages at least a portion of the clamp. The clamp is secured to the pole and the shelf is secured to the clamp. In a released position of the fastener and clamp, the end portion of the fastener does not engage the pole.

Adjustable pole caddy

A utility tub includes a basin having a bottom wall and a sidewall extending generally perpendicularly therefrom. At least two legs support the basin above a supporting surface. Each of the at least two legs extends generally perpendicularly with respect to the bottom wall of the basin and the supporting surface. A shelf includes a top surface and an opposing bottom surface. The shelf is selectively removably detachable to the basin and each of the at least two legs such that the shelf has a first configuration wherein a least a portion of the shelf is supported within the basin above the bottom wall and the second configuration wherein at least a portion of the shelf is supported by the at least two legs below the bottom wall of the basin.

Utility tub

An adjustable rod assembly includes first and second rod assemblies, first and second end supports, and a tension rod mechanism. The first rod assembly has telescoping first, second and third tubes of generally straight configurations. The second tube of the first rod assembly is rotatable relative to the first and third tubes of the first rod assembly. The second rod assembly has telescoping first and second tubes. The third tube of the first rod assembly and the second tube of the second rod assembly are secured to the first end support. The respective first tubes of the first and second rod assemblies are secured to the second end support. The tension rod mechanism is fixedly secured within the second tube of the first rod assembly for rotational movement therewith, and has a threaded portion configured to extend into the first tube of the first rod assembly.

Adjustable rod assembly

A tension rod mechanism for a tension rod having a second inner shaft slideably received by a first outer shaft and rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the tension rod. An expandable collar is threadingly engaged with a tapered first threaded shaft is configured to be received in the first outer shaft for rotational movement therewith and slidable axial movement relative thereto. A second attachment shaft fixedly connected to the tapered first threaded shaft is configured to be received in the second inner shaft for rotational and slidable axial movement therewith. When the expandable collar is in the first outer shaft and the second attachment shaft is fixedly received in the second inner shaft, a first rotation of the first outer shaft relative to the second inner shaft expands a diameter of the collar fixedly attaching the expandable collar to the first outer shaft for axial movement therewith.

Molded tension rod mechanism with single lock nut

A rod assembly includes a rod having a first rod section telescopingly received with a second rod section, first and second end caps, and first and second covers. Each end cap has an open first end, a generally closed second end, and a groove which extends around an external periphery of the end cap proximate the generally closed second end. Each cover has a cavity extending between a generally open first end and an opposing second end. The cavity has a flange which extends around an interior periphery of the cavity at an open end of the cavity. The cavity of each cover is sized and shaped to receive at least a portion of one of the first and second end caps therein such that the external peripheral groove of the end cap engages the internal peripheral flange of the cover.

Curtain rod end cap and cover

A tension rod mechanism for a tension rod having a first outer shaft with a second inner shaft slideable therein has a unidirectional slip-lock configured to be received in the first outer shaft for rotational movement therewith and unidirectional slidable axial movement relative thereto. A threaded shaft is fixedly connected to the unidirectional slip-lock. A collar is threadingly engaged with the threaded shaft and configured to be fixedly received in the second inner shaft for movement therewith. When the unidirectional slip-lock is in the first outer shaft and the collar is fixedly received in the second inner shaft, slidable axial movement of the unidirectional slip-lock relative to the first outer shaft may occur only in an expansion direction A rotation of the first outer shaft relative to the second inner shaft increases the axial distance between the unidirectional slip-lock and the collar.

Unidirectional tension rod mechanism

A tension rod mechanism for a tension rod having a first outer shaft with a second inner shaft slideable therein. A first collar receiveable in the first outer shaft of a tension rod for rotational movement therewith and slidable axial movement relative thereto threadingly engages a tapered first threaded shaft and is configured to apply a outwardly-directed radial force to the first outer shaft. A second collar fixedly receivable in the second inner shaft for movement therewith engages the second threaded shaft. A first rotation of the first outer shaft relative to the second inner shaft increases the outwardly-directed radial force applied by the first collar to the first outer shaft, and a second rotation in an opposite direction increases the axial distance between the first and second collars.

Tension rod mechanism with opposing threads

An adjustable shelf assembly including an elongated frame and a first shelf and a second shelf attached to the frame. The frame has a first end and a second end, and generally extends in a first plane. At least a portion of the first and second shelves extends in a second plane generally perpendicular to the first plane. The first and second shelves are separately transversely movable in the second plane relative to the frame. The shelf assembly is in an open position when the first and second shelves are transversely moved away and spaced apart from each other in the second plane, a generally vacant space is formed between the first and second shelves. The shelf assembly is in a closed position when the first and second shelves are positioned proximate to each other.
