A device may receive, from a virtual machine deployed on the device, a request to register for an event associated with a hardware component of the device, and may create a path to a script associated with providing information about the event when the event occurs. The device may provide the script to an event plugin associated with the event and the hardware component, and may register the event plugin with a kernel associated with the device. The device may receive, the kernel, information indicating occurrence of the event associated with the hardware component, and may cause, via the event plugin, execution of the script based on the occurrence of the event associated with the hardware component. The device may provide, based on execution of the script, a notification to the virtual machine, where the notification may indicate the occurrence of the event associated with the hardware component.

Providing physical host hardware state information to virtual machines deployed on the physical host

An orchestrator component, of a host device, may establish a connection to a bridge associated with the host device, where multiple virtual machines are executing on the host device. The orchestrator component may provide, to one or more of the multiple virtual machines, a notification about the bridge associated with the host device, where the notification is to permit the one or more of the multiple virtual machines to connect to the bridge. The orchestrator component may obtain one or more dynamic parameters relating to the host device, and may provide the one or more dynamic parameters for transmission to the one or more of the multiple virtual machines via the bridge to permit the one or more of the multiple virtual machines to receive and process the one or more dynamic parameters.

Providing physical host state information to virtual machines deployed on the physical host

The disclosed method may include (1) identifying, within a virtual network, a primary virtual network device and a backup virtual network device that is to handle traffic directed to the primary virtual network device following a failure of the primary virtual network device, (2) installing, on the primary virtual network device, a first virtual controller that manages the primary virtual network device, (3) installing, on the backup virtual network device, a second virtual controller that manages the backup virtual network device, (4) directing, by the first virtual controller, the second virtual controller to replicate a state of the primary virtual network device, (5) detecting the failure of the primary virtual network device, and then in response to detecting the failure of the primary virtual network device, (6) directing, by the first virtual controller, the second virtual controller to facilitate handling the traffic directed to the primary virtual network device.
