An air purifier including an air filter, an air movement device configured to move air at least partially in an axial direction and through the filter, and a first exit path in fluid communication with the air movement device. The first exit path is configured such that at least part of the air moved by the air movement device exits the first exit path generally in the axial direction. The air purifier further includes a second exit path in fluid communication with the air movement device and configured such that at least part of the air moved by the air movement device exits the second exit path at an angle of between about 10 degrees and about 45 degrees relative to air exiting the first exit path.

A paper shredder includes a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, and a feeder base adapted to support a stack of paper. The feeder base includes a feeder slot. The feeder base is integrally-formed as one piece having a front portion, a rear portion, and a sidewall along first and second sides and spanning the feeder slot.

A paper shredder includes a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, and a feeder base coupled to the housing and adapted to support a stack of papers. The feeder base includes a feeder slot through which paper passes for shredding in the cutters. The feeder base further includes an aperture formed in the feeder base at a location spaced from the feeder slot. The aperture provides a pathway between a top surface of the feeder base and a waste area below the feeder base and has an edge with multiple surfaces that enhance an ability of the edge to peel away sheets of paper from the stack.

A paper shredder includes a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, and a feeder base adapted to support a stack of paper. The feeder base includes a feeder slot. The feeder base further includes a sidewall extending in a direction generally perpendicular to the feeder slot, and an aperture formed in the feeder base at a location spaced from the feeder slot. The aperture provides a pathway between a top surface of the feeder base and a waste area below the feeder base and has a first end closest to the sidewall and defining a first end point closest to the feeder slot, and a second end farthest from the sidewall and defining a second end point closest to the feeder slot. The first end point is closer to the feeder slot than the second end point.

A paper shredder includes a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, and a feeder base adapted to support a stack of paper. The feeder base includes a feeder slot. A pressure plate is mounted for movement above the feeder base. The pressure plate is mounted to a bottom surface of a feeder door that substantially covers the entire feeder base and is pivoted about an axis at one end of the feeder door. The pressure plate is a one-piece member that spans the feeder slot.

A paper shredder includes a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, and a feeder base adapted to support a stack of paper. The feeder base includes a feeder slot. The feeder base further includes a first aperture on one side of the feeder slot, the first aperture providing a first communication pathway between a top surface of the feeder base and a waste area below the feeder base, and a second aperture on a same side of the feeder slot as the first aperture, the second aperture providing a second communication pathway between the top surface of the feeder base and the waste area below the feeder base. The first and second communication pathways are separated from one another.

Shredder

A paper shredder comprising a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, and a feeder base adapted to support a stack of paper. The feeder base includes a feed slot and an aperture providing communication between a top surface of the feeder base and a waste area. An edge defines at least a portion of the aperture and is oriented at an angle oblique to the feeder slot. The edge can be positioned at an angle of 3 degrees to 70 degrees, and preferably at about 10 degrees relative to the feeder slot. Preferably, the edge includes a first section at an angle of between 3 degrees and 20 degrees relative to the feeder slot, and a second section at an angle of between 20 degrees and 45 degrees relative to the feeder slot. The shredder can further comprise a deflection member for deflecting clips falling into the aperture.

A paper shredder comprising a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, a feeder base coupled to the housing and including a feeder slot, and a pressure plate mounted for movement above the feeder base. The pressure plate has a length perpendicular to the feeder slot that is less than 80% of a length of the feeder base. In one embodiment, the pressure plate includes two rollers positioned on opposing sides of the feeder slot (e.g., rotational about axes fixed relative to each other). The pressure plate preferably does not overlap with any aperture(s) in the feeder base. The paper shredder can also include a feeder door that substantially covers the entire feeder base and is pivoted at one end of the feeder door. The pressure plate can be mounted adjacent a bottom surface of the feeder door.
