Schedulers that allocate resource grants on a slot-by-slot basis within a scheduling epoch or frame can create a front-loading effect where allocations occur more frequently in slots earlier in frames. To address these and other issues, systems and methods are disclosed for scheduling resource grants in a network to improve network transmit power profiles. For example, a scheduler is configured to randomize the order of slots in a scheduling epoch or frame, with different randomizations for different schedulers, to more evenly distribute slots with resource grant allocations to prevent or reduce a front-loading effect. As another example, the scheduler is configured to randomize start times of resource blocks within a slot to prevent or reduce the front-loading effect.

Improving network transmit power profile by randomizing resource grants on a multi-user communications network

Described herein are technologies that utilize full duplex gateway terminals in satellite networks with half duplex user equipment. The disclosed scheduling technologies incorporate the knowledge of the propagation delay between a gateway terminal and each UE in communication with the gateway terminal. Based on this propagation delay, a scheduler can allocate DL and UL time slots in a scheduling frame in a way that avoids allocating overlapping DL and UL time slots at each UE.

Using time division duplexing systems in frequency division duplexing networks

Systems and methods are described that enable user terminals to eliminate or reduce the number of dummy bursts (or bursts with no data) they send. The systems and methods use two burst detectors, a first burst detector that analyzes the physical structure of the signal, and a second burst detector that analyzes the informational structure of the signal. Output from the first burst detector can be used to control operation of a signal decoder that decodes received signals. The second burst detector analyzes output from the signal decoder to determine the second burst indicator. In other words, the first burst detector can be implemented prior to decoding the received signal to provide a first estimate related to the presence or absence of a burst. This can then be used to limit the amount of processing performed by the signal decoder.

Multi-stage burst detection for communications systems

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Wireless communications systems may support uplink random access channel (RACH) transmissions on multiple beams and over multiple component carriers (CCs). A wireless device may transmit a random access preamble to a base station in a first RACH transmission, which may indicate a set of CCs over which the base station may respond with a random access response (RAR) in a second RACH transmission. The second RACH transmission may then include an indication for which CCs the wireless device may use for a subsequent RACH transmission (e.g., a RACH message 3). The wireless device may also indicate a beam index and/or time-frequency resources associated with beams and/or CCs used for such cell acquisition transmissions. In other examples, the base station may indicate resources (e.g., via a handover command or RACH command) for wireless device scheduling request and/or beam-failure recovery request transmission.

Random access channel procedures with multiple carriers

Wireless communications systems and methods related to synchronization signal (SS) transmission coordination among base stations (BSs) and restricted SS measurements at user equipments (UEs) are provided. A first BS transmits a first SS burst in a first SS transmission period of a plurality of SS transmission periods. The first SS transmission period is designated to the first BS. A second SS transmission period of the plurality of SS transmission periods is designated to a second BS. The first SS transmission period and the second SS transmission period are different. The first BS receives, from a UE, a first signal in synchronization with the first SS burst. The first signal includes a SS measurement of the first SS burst.

Coordinated synchronization channel transmission and restricted measurement

Aspects described herein relate to resource block allocation for time domain single-carrier waveform processing in new radio (NR). Specifically, in an aspect, a guard band may be allocated for a single-carrier waveform in a time or frequency domain. In another aspect, a resource block may be allocated for a time domain single-carrier waveform.

Techniques for resource block allocation in wireless communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, via an autonomous uplink communication, one or more transport blocks to a base station. Each transport block may include a plurality of code block groups (CBGs). The base station may provide CBG-level feedback to the UE based at least in part on the autonomous uplink communication. In some examples, the base station may provide the CBG-level feedback in one or more downlink feedback information (DFI) packets. In some other examples, the base station may provide the CBG-level feedback via one or more uplink transmission grants. The UE may retransmit one or more CBGs from the autonomous uplink communication based at least in part on the DFI packets or uplink transmission grants.

Code block group-based autonomous uplink transmission

Methods, systems, and devices for time domain single carrier (SC) waveform communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may generate an SC waveform by resampling (e.g., up-sampling) mapped information bits prior to insertion of a cyclic prefix (CP) or guard interval (GI). Performing resampling prior to CP/GI insertion allows for resource allocation flexibility and a base station may allocate resources for the SC waveform in accordance with this flexibility. For example, a base station may not be limited or restricted to a certain number of resources for SC waveform communications and may therefore determine a resource allocation for the UE based on the capability of the UE to perform resampling prior to CP/GI insertion. The resampling may be performed according to a set of parameters including a resampling ratio, which may be indicated to the UE via control signaling (e.g., from the base station).

Resource allocation constraint mitigation

Wireless communications systems and methods related to communications in a network that supports data transmitted in an unlicensed frequency band and a licensed frequency band are provided. A first wireless communication device communicates, with a second wireless communication device, a configuration indicating a first resource in an unlicensed frequency band and a second resource in a licensed band. The first wireless communication device communicates, with the second wireless communication device in the unlicensed frequency band, a first communication signal based on the configuration. The first wireless communication device communicates with the second wireless communication device in the licensed frequency band, a second communication signal based on at least one of a channel status of the unlicensed frequency band or a transmission parameter associated with at least one of the first communication signal or the second communication signal.

Licensed supplemental uplink as fallback with unlicensed uplink and downlink

Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a UE may measure a first reference signal, associated with a frequency band of a long term evolution (LTE) system, and a second reference signal associated with a frequency band of a new radio (NR) system. The frequency band of the NR system may overlap the frequency band of the LTE system. The UE may determine first channel state feedback, associated with the frequency band of the LTE system, and second channel state feedback, associated with the frequency band of the NR system, based at least in part on the first reference signal and the second reference signal, respectively. The UE may report the first channel state feedback or the second channel state feedback in uplink control information (UCI). Other aspects are provided.

Techniques and apparatuses for nesting a new radio system and a long term evolution system

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for dynamic reclamation of resources reserved for forward compatibility using communications systems operating according to new radio (NR) technologies. Certain aspects provide a method for wireless communication. The method generally includes identifying resources previously reserved for forward compatibility (FC) that are available for reuse, and providing signaling, to one or more user equipments (UEs), indicating the identified resources are available for reuse.

Dynamic reclamation of resources reserved for forward compatibility

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device, such as a base station or a user equipment, may identify an energy detection threshold for a sensing beam associated with a channel access procedure, such as a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure. The wireless device may also identify a set of transmit power parameters for one or more transmit beams. The wireless device may determine a degree of overlap between a coverage area of one or more transmit beams and a coverage area of the sensing beam. The wireless device may adjust the set of transmit power parameters, the energy detection threshold, or a combination thereof based on the degree of overlap. The wireless device may perform the channel access procedure based on the determining, the adjusting, or both.

Listen-before-talk beam overlap measurement procedures

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for selecting an uplink (UL) transmit beam by a user equipment (UE). A UE may receive, from a base station (BS), one or more beamformed downlink signals using one or more receive beams. The UE may select an uplink transmit beam based, at least in part, on the one or more beamformed downlink signals. The UE may transmit an uplink signal using the selected uplink transmit beam.
