An area control system for an image processing apparatus including a input unit 1 for inputting image signals, a area control unit 2 for generating control signals according to a specified area, document type and processing mode, and a processing unit 3 having a plurality of processing blocks 3-1, 3-2, . . . for processing image signals by setting parameters in the processing blocks 3-1, 3-2, . . . , comprises a decode unit 4 for generating signals to switch the parameters in the processing blocks 3-1, 3-2, . . . of the processing unit 3 by control signals for each area generated by the area control unit 2. The decode unit distributes the control signals from the area control unit to the processing blocks, through the decode unit 4. With such an arrangement, when the area control unit 2 merely outputs the document type and a processing mode for each area, such as an input mode and an output mode, the decode unit 4 automatically generates control signals for the processing blocks 3-1, 3-2, . . . and distributes them to the processing blocks. If the decode unit 4 is provided for each processing block 3-1, 3-2, . . . , the processing system and the processing blocks, if required, can be altered or modified for each processing block.

Area control system for image processing apparatus

A texture image processing system for image processing apparatus comprises, first calculator for calculating a maximum value and a minimum value of texture image data; second calculator for calculating an average value and a gain value with employment of said maximum value and minimum value; and synthesizing processor for synthesizing texture image data by image picture data, this synthesizing processor synthesizing the texture image data with the image picture data by multiplying a difference between the texture image data and the average value by the gain value. Also, synthesizing processor synthesizes the texture image data with chromaticity information of the image picture data, or chromaticity information of the image picture data with predetermined chromaticity information, chromaticity information of the texture image data. With the above-described structures, both of hue and saturation in the image picture data are maintained, and also the synthesized texture image having no great brightness change over its entire region is obtained.

Image processing apparatus for combining image data and texture image

A color image editing apparatus capable of improving color detecting accuracy, color-converting a chromatic color into a neutral (achromatic) color and vice verse and performing a hue conversion, while maintaining gradation. The color image editing apparatus in which image signals read out by an image reading unit are converted to density, hue and chroma signals by color display coordinate system convertor to perform a color image editing operation inlcudes a detector for detecting whether or not density, hue and chroma of a detected color image is within predetermined density, hue and chroma ranges, respectively. It is judged by a judging unit whether or not a color of the detected color image is of a predetermined color in responses to an output of the detector, and a color changing unit means converts the density, hue and chroma independently in response to the judgement result of the judging unit.

Color image editing apparatus

An image processing system assigns weight factors to two respective image signals of the equivalent color space so that the two image signals are combined according to the respective weight factors. For example, two weight factors having a sum of unity are assigned to the respective image signals. Alternatively, two weight factors are assigned independently.

Image combining in image processing apparatus

A matrix unit receives a luminance signal L* for a uniform color space and two color difference signals a* and b*. Then, when a control signal has given instructions for a mono-color editing operation, the matrix means outputs only the luminance signal L* out of the picture image data fed into it, and, when a control signal is given otherwise, the matrix means generates and outputs toner color signals for the colors Y, M, C, and K. A multiplying unit multiplies with a prescribed coefficient the picture image data which are output from the matrix unit, and the multiplying unit multiplies the picture image data with a coefficient for permitting the toner signal output from the matrix unit to pass through in case the control signal has not given any instructions for any mono-color editing operation, and multiplies the input luminance signal L* with four coefficients corresponding to the color as instructed by the control signal and generate four toner color signals for Y, M, C, and K. The coefficients have the data form representing the coverage of the toner colors, Y, M, C, and K.

Mono-color editing method for color picture image recording

A color image recognition apparatus capable of judging whether an original is monochromatic or color comprises an image reader for rapidly scanning the original to develop image data and a color display coordinate system for converting the image data to luminance data and color difference data. A pixel color judging unit judges the color of each pixel based upon the luminance data and the color difference data, and a block color judging unit compares the number of color pixels with the number of black pixels contained in each of the plurality of blocks of pixels. An original color judging unit then counts the number of color blocks in the original to judge the color of the original.

Image recognition apparatus for judging between monochromic and color

An image processing apparatus has an original read unit for reading an image on an original document by a prescan and a copy scan, an image data processing unit for converting original image signals into digital image data signals and for processing the digital image data signals, and an output unit for outputting processed image data. The image processing apparatus further comprises an original detecting unit (3) for reading coordinates data on the original in a prescan mode, and enlargement/reduction processing units (2, 4 to 9) which store the image data read in a copy scan mode into a memory, execute the enlargement/reduction in accordance with the stored image data, whereby the enlargement/reduction processing units (2, 4 to 9) carry out the frame-erasure process by using the original coordinates data. Thereby, an image processing apparatus in which an area to be erased can be flexibly changed, and undesired spaces, which otherwise will be caused by the frame erasure processing, are not created even in a repeat processing or an enlargement/repeat processing.

A ground detection means 10 for detecting the ground level of a document and a data correction means 11 for calculating correction data based on the detected ground level are provided. The ground level of the document is detected by prescanning and the correction data is calculated therefrom so that parameters of color conversion means 2, 3 are changed by the correction data. The correction data is set by approximating the detected ground level with a linear function. As a result of the above construction, the correction data is generated easily to thereby remove ground fog and exclude back-side images of the document. In addition, if the ground level is detected by a lightness signal L* and corrected by the lightness signal L* or a color-separated signal BGR, the correction can be achieved by correcting the parameters of a matrix that converts the color-separated signals B, G, R to a system value (L*a*b*) signal.

Image data V, H and C are color edited by image edit block and the output thereof H and C are converted to a* and b* respectively by fourth color signal conversion unit. The outputs of the first color signal conversion unit are also input to delay unit, are delayed by a time equal to a processing time in image edit unit by the delay unit, and are then input to selector unit. The selector unit, in accordance with a switching control signal S.sub.cont output from the image edit block, outputs either of the color edited data L*, a* and b* that are output from the image edit unit or the data L*, a* and b* that are output from the delay unit.

Color image recording device with color edit and conversion processing

A gray balance control system for reproducing original images. An optical signal is separated into a plurality of separated color signals, gray balance conversion data for each of the colors of the separated color signals is stored in a memory circuit, and an equivalent neutral density conversion is performed on the plurality of separated color signals by converting the color signals to gray balanced color signals in accordance with the gray balance conversion data. Finally, the gray balanced color signals are converted into print signals for coloring materials.
