A battery pack () includes: a battery (); a circuit substrate () having a charge/discharge safety circuit and arranged on one end face () of the battery; and an end case () in which an external connection terminal () is set. In this battery pack, the circuit substrate () is arranged inside the end case (), and the end case () is secured to the battery by screws () with a screw head () extending through and engaging with the end case () at both ends and tips of the screw () being engaged into the end face () at both ends of the battery (). This achieves a compact battery pack with a reduced connection resistance, while achieving both high reliability and productivity.

Battery pack

A battery pack comprising a lithium ion secondary battery and a current interrupting device for protecting the secondary battery, the secondary battery comprising positive and negative electrodes, a separator interposed between the positive and negative electrodes and a non-aqueous electrolyte, the current interrupting device comprising a recoverable device and a non-recoverable device, the recoverable and non-recoverable devices being connected in series with each other, and the non-recoverable device having an operating temperature of not less than 90&#xb0; C. and less than 150&#xb0; C.

A rechargeable battery is integrated with a battery protection circuit that protects the rechargeable battery from overcharging, over discharging, and so forth. A circuit board () on which are formed a battery protection circuit, a positive input and output terminal (), and a temperature detection terminal () is disposed on a rechargeable battery () via a spacer (), and the positive and negative electrodes of the rechargeable battery () are connected to the circuit board (). This assembly is enveloped by a cover cap () and a cover plate (), such that the positive input and output terminal () and the temperature detection terminal () are exposed to the outside through openings provided in the cover plate (), and one end of the cover cap () in the same plane as these is used for connection as a negative input and output terminal ().

Rechargeable battery equipped with battery protection circuit

A rechargeable battery pack includes a rechargeable battery having a first electrode and a second electrode; a circuit assembly disposed at one end on a side of a sealing portion of the rechargeable battery; a battery protection circuit for protecting the rechargeable battery from overcharging, the battery protection circuit arranged on a side of the circuit assembly which faces the sealing portion of the rechargeable battery; a plurality of input and output terminals arranged on another side of the circuit assembly, said input and output terminals to which said first electrode and said second electrode are respectively each connected via the battery protection circuit, thereby constituting an intermediate unit in which the rechargeable battery and the circuit assembly are integrated; and an outer case for sealing therein said intermediate unit, the outer case having openings formed at locations corresponding to the input and output terminals.
