The present invention provides a toner having a toner particle that contains a binder resin and an organic silicon polymer, wherein the organic silicon polymer has a specific structure, the proportion of the specific structure to the number of a silicon atom in the organic silicon polymer contained in the toner particle is at least 5.0%, the toner particle contain a polyester resin of from at least 1.0% by mass to less than 80% by mass, and the polyester resin is a specific polymer.

Provided is a toner that is improved in transferability as compared to the related art and that keeps its effects through repeated use. In particular, provided is a toner suppressed in dependency on transfer current control. The present invention provides a toner having a toner particle that contains a binder resin, wherein the binder resin contains a vinylic resin and a polyester resin, the vinylic resin contains an organic silicon polymer having a specific structure, the organic silicon polymer is contained in the surface layer of the toner particle, the proportion of a silicon atom in the organic silicon polymer having a specific structure is at least 5%, the polyester resin is a specific polymer, and the toner particle contains a specific amount of the polyester resin.

A toner contains toner particles having a surface layer containing an organosilicon polymer. The organosilicon polymer has a particular partial structure. The surface layer has a particular average thickness Dav. The ratio of silicon ions to carbon ions emitted from the toner particles in response to irradiation of the toner particles with primary ions in mapping measurement by FIB-TOF-SIMS is specified.

The present invention is a toner that has toner particles that have a surface layer that contains an organosilicon polymer, wherein this organosilicon polymer has a specific substructure and the ratio [ST3], in aSi-NMR measurement of a tetrahydrofuran-insoluble matter of the toner particles, of the peak area for this substructure to the total peak area for the organosilicon polymer satisfies the relationship ST3&#x2267;0.40.

A toner having good environmental stability, low-temperature fixability, development durability, and storage stability is provided. A toner includes toner particles each including a surface layer that contains an organic silicon polymer. The organic silicon polymer is obtained by polymerizing a compound having a specific structure. The surface layers have a particular average thickness Dav. In mapping by focused-ion-beam time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy, a ratio of silicon ions to carbon ions released from the toner particles upon irradiation of toner particle surfaces with primary ions is a particular value.

A toner having good development durability, storage stability, environmental stability, and low-temperature fixability is provided. The toner contains toner particles each including a surface layer that contains an organic silicon polymer. The organic silicon polymer contains a unit having a specific structure. The average thickness Dav. of the surface layers is a specific value and the silicon concentration determined by ESCA is 2.5% or more. The toner has a shape factor SF-2 of 140 or more and 260 or less and an average circularity of 0.970 or more and 0.990 or less.

A toner is provided that exhibits a high long-term image stability even during high-speed printing and that also exhibits an excellent environmental stability. A toner which has i) toner base particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant and ii) a fatty acid metal salt composition as an external additive. The fatty acid metal salt composition contains a nonionic surface-active agent and a fatty acid metal salt. This toner and an image forming process making use of the toner can keep the toner from adhering to a toner carrying member throughout running, promise a stable chargeability of the toner and can keep any deterioration of halftone image quality from being caused by excess charging of the toner and any image fog from being caused by insufficient charging of the toner.
