A rolling bearing includes: an inner ring; an outer ring; a plurality of rolling elements provided between an inner ring raceway and an outer ring raceway; and a cage that holds the rolling elements at intervals in a circumferential direction. The cage includes an annular portion provided in a first axial direction with respect to the rolling elements, and a plurality of cage bars provided to extend in a second axial direction from the annular portion. The annular portion includes a contact surface that makes sliding contact with a shoulder portion. The cage bars each include a first projecting portion and a second projecting portion. The second projecting portion covers a part of the inner ring raceway on a side of the shoulder portion.

Rolling bearing

A rolling bearing includes an inner ring, an outer ring, a plurality of balls, and a cage that holds the balls. The cage includes an annular portion and a plurality of cage bars. Each of the balls is received a pocket between each pair of cage bars that is adjacent in the circumferential direction. A portion of the pocket in a second axial direction opens with a dimension that is smaller than a diameter of the balls. The cage bar includes a flat surface that is continuous with an inner peripheral surface of the annular portion, and an inclined surface that extends away from the inner ring toward the second axial direction from the flat surface.

A hub unit of the present invention includes a cap that covers an opening of a pilot portion, and the cap includes a cap body formed in a disc shape, and a cylindrical portion extending in an axial direction from an outer periphery of the cap body. The cap is removably attached to the pilot portion by screwing an external thread portion formed on an outer periphery of the cylindrical portion of the cap, to an internal thread portion formed on an inner periphery of the pilot portion.

Hub unit

A hub of a vehicle bearing device has a cylindrical portion and a flange portion. The flange portion has a pin hole formation portion, a reference position intermediate portion, separate position intermediate portions, and build-up portions. The reference position intermediate portion is formed between bolt hole formation portions. The first separate position intermediate portion is formed between bolt hole formation portions. The second separate position intermediate portion is formed between bolt hole formation portions. The pin hole formation portion is formed at the reference position intermediate portion, and has a hub side pin hole. A pin for fixing the hub and a brake rotor to each other is inserted into the hub side pin hole. The build-up portions are formed on the separate position intermediate portions, and are balanced in terms of weight with the pin-hole formation portion.

Vehicle bearing device

A rotary ring of a hub unit has an annular first end face on one side in the axial direction, and an outer ring of a joint has an annular second end face on the other side in the axial direction. Outer splines are formed in a radially outer-side region of the first end face and outer splines are formed in a radially outer-side region of the second end face. The outer splines of the first end face and the outer splines of the second end face mesh with each other. Inner splines are formed in a radially inner-side region of the first end face and inner splines are formed in a radially inner-side region of the second end face. The inner splines of the first end face and the inner splines of the second end face mesh with each other.

Wheel support device

In a machining tool, multiple tooth forming portions for plastically forming spline teeth on an axial end face of a vehicle hub unit, the axial end face facing inward in the vehicle lateral direction, are formed in a circular pattern about the central axis of the machining tool. In the machining tool, a rounded-portion forming portion is formed to form a rounded portion between a tooth flank and a top land of each spline tooth, and the radius of the rounded-portion forming portion gradually changes in the radial direction about the central axis.

Machining tool for vehicle hub unit and vehicle hub unit

A rotary ring of a hub unit has an annular end face on one side in the axial direction, and a tapered outer periphery in a radially outer region of the end face. The diameter of the tapered outer periphery increases toward the other side in the axial direction. An outer ring of a joint has an annular end face on the other side in the axial direction, and had a tapered inner periphery in a radially outer region of the end face. The diameter of the tapered inner periphery increases toward the other side in the axial direction, and the tapered inner periphery faces the tapered outer periphery. Splines are formed in the tapered outer periphery and splines are formed in the tapered inner periphery, and the splines of the tapered outer periphery and the splines of the tapered inner periphery mesh with each other.

A first side-face spline of a hub spindle and a second side-face spline of a constant velocity joint each has a tooth tip formed by tip tilted surfaces tilted from tooth flanks constituting a tooth chevron, an internal angle of the tooth tip is set to be less than 180 degrees, and a tooth tip-side perpendicular distance, which is a perpendicular distance between a tooth tip virtual intersection and a first virtual plane is set larger than a bottom land-side perpendicular distance, which is a perpendicular distance between a bottom land virtual intersection and a second virtual plane.

Vehicle bearing apparatus

A vehicle hub unit includes: an outer ring; rolling elements; a hub wheel that is arranged radially inward of the outer ring via the rolling elements; and an inner ring member that is fixed to an end portion of a hub spindle of the hub wheel by clinching. A spline tooth portion that meshes with a tooth portion of a constant velocity joint that transmits driving force to the hub unit is formed at a clinched portion of the hub spindle. A protruding portion is formed at a radially inner side portion of a bottom of the spline tooth portion.

Vehicle hub unit

A sealing device is mounted in an annular space defined between an inner member and an outer member which rotate relative to each other. The sealing device includes a slinger which has a cylindrical portion which is press fitted on or in one of the inner member and the outer member and an annular plate portion, and a seal main body which has a core metal having a cylindrical portion which is press fitted in or on the other of the inner member and the outer member and an annular plate portion and a seal member fixed to the core metal. A lip for closing a space between the annular plate portion of the slinger and the cylindrical portion of the core metal is provided on the slinger or the seal main body.

Sealing device and rolling bearing apparatus

It is a cage that is formed of a resin and that holds balls serving as rolling elements. The cage includes an annular base portion, and a plurality of claw portions that are formed to be arranged at constant intervals on the circumference of the base portion and to protrude therefrom. A pocket for accommodating the ball is formed between each pair of adjacent ones of the claw portions. In the resin cage for a ball bearing, thinning recesses are formed in end partsof the claw portions and a rear surface of the base portion, respectively.

A method of manufacturing a double row rolling bearing device includes: providing a collet chuck having radially expandable separated parts and a tapered cone for radially expanding the separated parts; inserting the radially contracted collet chuck into a through hole before the double row rolling bearing is caulked to the hub shaft; caulking the cylindrical end of the hub shaft, with the separated parts being in contact with the end by radially expanding the collet chuck to prevent radially inward plastic deformation of the end; and contracting the collet chuck and extracting the collet chuck out of the hub shaft after the caulking.
