A method of measuring a semiconductor pressure sensor comprises the steps of mounting a wafer formed with diaphragm type semiconductor pressure sensors on a wafer stage, evacuating air existing between the back surface side of said diaphragm type semiconductor pressure sensors and said wafer stage through at least one hole provided in said wafer stage to deform diaphragms of said semiconductor pressure sensors, and measuring the pressure sensitivity of each of said semiconductor pressure sensors from the surface side of said semiconductor pressure sensors.

A laser scalpel in which optical fiber is used as the optical wave guide and the optical fiber is guided from a laser main body housing a laser source therein to the areas to be irradiated along a shore means provided on the laser main body is disclosed. The optical fiber is provided with a hand piece on the exterior of the forward end portion. The hand piece is so constructed that it facilitates the directing of the forward end of the fiber toward the areas to be irradiated. A supporting wire means is provided along the shore means so as to be axially movable. The forward end of the wire means is connected to the hand piece and the rear end of the wire means is connected to a balancing means for counter-balancing at least the weight of said hand piece.

An extension mechanism of an adaptor for a laser-powered scalpel, in which an adaptor top portion is reciprocally movable in the axial direction along the length of the main body of an adaptor is disclosed. An internally threaded sleeve is mounted rotatably around the main body. The adaptor top portion includes a threaded portion engaging with the threads of the sleeve and positioned between the main body of an adaptor and the sleeve. The adaptor top portion is reciprocally movable by rotating the sleeve.

Laser output controlling device

An optical character reading system in which a sheet upon which characters or symbols are printed is illuminated and the characters scanned with a two-dimensional photoelectric sensor. Output signals from the sensors are processed to read the characters through right and left frame detecting circuits. The right and left frame detecting circuits detect white/black patterns of frames formed on the sensor when the left and right sides of the characters extend beyond the ends of the ranges of the sensor. A circuit combines the white/black patterns detected by the right and left frame detecting circuits to provide a recognition of the characters being scanned.
