An NMR probe has a sample tube insertion port for introducing and withdrawing the sample tube into and from the probe, a sample tube support providing support of the sample tube during NMR measurements, a tubular sample tube passage connecting together the sample tube insertion port and the sample tube support and capable of transporting the sample tube between them, and a gas stream generator for producing a gas stream in the sample tube passage to move the sample tube between the sample tube insertion port and the tube support. The gas stream generator is mounted at an intermediate (non-end) position in the sample tube passage.

NMR probe

A solid-state NMR sample tube and method of using same which can be spun stably and at high speed while suppressing its bending resonance. A solid sample to be investigated by solid-state NMR spectroscopy can be sealed in the sample tube. The sample tube includes a hollow cylinder having opposite ends. At least one of the ends is open. The sample tube has a length L, an outside diameter D, and an inside diameter d which satisfy a given relationship disclosed herein.

Sample tube and measurement method for solid-state NMR

An improved high-speed spinner for solid-state NMR spectroscopy is provided. This spinner has a rotor portion comprising a radial flow type turbine that is rotated efficiently when a gas is blown at the turbine. Furthermore, stable high-speed rotation is assured. The gas blown at the turbine via gas supply holes formed in a turbine nozzle is vented rearward at a given angle to radial directions to thereby apply a rotating force to the turbine itself. The turbine has blades that are greater in number than the gas supply holes in the nozzle. The number of the blades is prime to the number of the gas supply holes.

High-speed sample spinner for solid NMR spectroscopy

There is disclosed high-resolution NMR spectroscopy in solids. Magic angle spinning and cross polarization are used in conjunction. The sample is rotated by a spinner at a high speed about an axis oriented at the magic angle 54.degree.44' with respect to the static magnetic field. Under this condition, a 90.degree. pulse is applied to abundant nuclear species, such as .sup.1 H that is coupled to dilute nuclear species, such as .sup.13 C. Then, a spin-locking pulse or pulse sequence is applied to the abundant nuclear species. An observing pulse or pulse sequence is applied to the dilute nuclear species. The free induction decay signal from the dilute nuclear species is detected. The spin-locking pulse or the observing pulse is amplitude-modulated at a low frequency.
