An information processing apparatus comprising a touch screen which detects a touch input by a user detects the position and pressure of each of a plurality of pressed points corresponding to a plurality of touch inputs existing at the same time on a touch screen. Then, the front/rear overlap relationship of the plurality of objects displayed on the touch screen is changed based on the difference in pressure between the detected plurality of pressed points.

A content managing device is provided, which can allow a user to intuitively perform generation of, using an operation that is similar to an operation of sorting content items or to an operation of adding attribute information to content items, a new sort-destination region into which content items are to be sorted. A first display object indicating a content item and a region in which the first display object is to be stored are displayed on a display unit. A position to which the first display object is moved is determined. When the determined position is located in the region, the first display object is stored in the region. When the determined position is not located in the region, a new region is displayed at the position to which the first display object was moved, and the first display object is stored in the new region.

Automatic sorting reflecting a user's intention is performed without prompting the user to perform a complicated sorting criterion setting operation. Images are sorted into groups in accordance with user's sorting operations. For each group, statistics of feature values of the sorted images are calculated. On the basis of the result of statistics, a feature value satisfying a predetermined criterion is determined as an automatic sorting criterion. The determined automatic sorting criterion is displayed. Thereafter, a plurality of contents are automatically sorted into the respective groups on the basis of the automatic sorting criterion.

In a state in which a first position contained in an area in which a plurality of objects are displayed has been recognized by the recognition unit and a second position on the display unit has been recognized by the recognition unit, the alignment unit aligns the plurality of objects on the display unit in accordance with path of movement when movement of the first position or second position has been detected.
