An image formation system includes: an image former that forms an image on a continuous sheet; a slack generator that is arranged upstream of the image former in a sheet conveyance direction and generates slack on the continuous sheet; and a sheet characteristic detector that is arranged upstream of the slack generator in the sheet conveyance direction and detects a sheet characteristic of the continuous sheet.

An image formation apparatus includes a printer configured to perform a printing process including transporting a recording medium and printing an image on the transported recording medium, and a hardware processor which determines whether the recording medium is only one sheet to be printed, and, depending on a result thereof, changes a time at which the printing process is started. Changing the time includes causing the printer to start the printing process when a first start print time is reached in a case in which the hardware processor determines that there is only one sheet to be printed, and causing the printer to start the printing process when a second start print time later than the first start print time is reached in a case in which the hardware processor determines that there is not only one sheet to be printed.

An image forming apparatus includes: a primary transfer section which executes a first transfer by superimposing respective color toner images formed on a plurality of photoreceptors onto an intermediate transfer member; a secondary transfer section including a transfer roller, which concurrently transfers a plurality of toner images superimposed and formed on the intermediate transfer member onto a sheet conveyed from a sheet feed tray, which is in contact with the intermediate transfer member, and a high voltage power source which applies voltage to the transfer roller; and a controller which judges whether there is residual toner, which is a toner image formed onto the intermediate transfer member but not transferred onto the sheet when a sheet sensor detects the sheet exhaustion, and executes a cleaning mode in which the transfer roller is cleaned when there is the residual toner.

An image forming apparatus is capable of connecting to a finisher which requires a warm-up process before use. The image forming apparatus comprises an input port which inputs warm-up information from the finisher, and a controller which controls the image forming apparatus to transport a set of sheets to the finisher regardless of the warm-up information. The set of sheets are subjected to a finishing operation carried out only after completing the warm-up process.
