A polyester resin for a toner obtained by polycondensing a carboxylic acid component and an alcohol component, wherein the polyester resin for a toner is obtained using, as the carboxylic acid component and/or the alcohol component, a specified aromatic compound; a polyester resin for a toner obtained by polycondensing a reaction product obtained by treating a specified aromatic compound with a carboxylic acid having an unsaturated reactive group, a carboxylic acid component, and an alcohol component; a resin binder for a toner, containing the polyester resin for a toner; and a toner for electrophotography, containing the resin binder. The polyester resin for a toner of the present invention is suitably used for a resin binder of a toner used in developing and the like of latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

Polyester resin for toner

A resin binder for use in a toner for electrophotography, containing a polycondensation resin obtainable by polycondensing an alcohol component containing an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol having two or more secondary carbon atoms with a hydroxyl group bound thereto (an alcohol A), and a carboxylic acid component, wherein the alcohol A is contained in an amount of from 10 to 100% by mol, of the alcohol component; and a toner for electrophotography containing the resin binder. The toner for electrophotography of the present invention is suitably used in developing latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

Electrophotographic toner

A polyester for a toner obtained by polycondensing an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid compound having a total number of hydroxy group or groups and carboxyl group or groups of 4 or more; an alcohol component containing an aliphatic diol having a hydroxyl group bound to a secondary carbon atom in an amount of 50% by mol or more; and a carboxylic acid component, provided that the aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic compound is not included, wherein the aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid compound and the aliphatic diol having a hydroxyl group bound to a secondary carbon atom are in a molar ratio, i.e. the aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid compound/the aliphatic diol having a hydroxyl group bound to a secondary carbon atom, of from 0.05 to 0.8; a resin binder for a toner, containing the polyester; and a toner for electrophotography, containing the resin binder. The polyester for a toner of the present invention is suitably used for a resin binder of a toner usable in development or the like of latent images formed in, for example, electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

Polyester for toner

A polyester for a toner, obtainable by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component containing a (meth)acrylic acid-modified rosin; and a toner containing the polyester for a toner. The polyester for a toner of the present invention is usable as a resin binder for a toner usable in, for example, developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

The present invention relates to a polyester having an excellent hydrolysis resistance even when used in a process for producing a toner for electrophotography which includes a step of forming a raw material into particles in an aqueous medium, and a toner for electrophotography which contains the polyester and is excellent in storage stability and fixing property. There are provided a polyester for a toner for electrophotography which is used in a process for producing a toner including a step of forming a raw material component into particles in an aqueous medium or a solution, and produced by polycondensing an alcohol component with a carboxylic acid component containing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an alkyl succinic acid and an alkenyl succinic acid, as well as a toner for electrophotography which contains the polyester.

Polyesters for toner for electrophotography

A toner for electrophotography, containing a resin binder containing a polyester-based resin (A) and a polyester-based resin (B) having a softening point of a temperature higher than the polyester-based resin (A) by 10&#xb0; C. or more, wherein at least one of the polyester-based resins (A) and (B) is a resin derived from a (meth)acrylic acid-modified rosin, having a polyester unit obtainable by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component containing a (meth)acrylic acid-modified rosin, and a method for producing the toner. The toner for electrophotography of the present invention is usable in, for example, developing or the like latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

Toner for electrophotography

A polyester resin composition for a toner comprising a titanium compound in an amount of from 0.005 to 4% by weight, and an inorganic phosphorus compound in an amount of from 0.001 to 5% by weight; a toner comprising the polyester resin composition as defined above; and a process for preparing the polyester resin composition for a toner as defined above, comprising the step of polycondensing the raw material monomers for the polyester in the presence of a titanium compound and an inorganic phosphorus compound. The polyester resin composition for a toner is suitably used as a resin binder for a toner for developing a latent image formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like, a process for preparing the same, and a toner comprising the polyester resin composition.

Polyester resin composition for toner

A resin composition having a softening point of from 80&#xb0; to 165&#xb0; C., obtained by reacting a poly Calkylene terephthalate having a melting point of 200&#xb0; C. or more with a low-molecular weight polyester having a number-average molecular weight of from 400 to 2500; a resin binder for a toner comprising the above resin composition; a toner comprising the above resin binder; a process for preparing a resin composition having a softening point of from 80&#xb0; to 165&#xb0; C., comprising the step of reacting a poly Calkylene terephthalate having a melting point of 200&#xb0; C. or more with a low-molecular weight polyester having a number-average molecular weight of from 400 to 2500. The resin composition can be suitably used as a resin binder for a toner used for developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing, and the like.

Resin composition

A crystalline polyester having a number-average molecular weight of from 5000 to 10000, a weight-average molecular weight of from 150000 to 8000000, a maximum peak temperature of heat of fusion of from 60&#xb0; to 150&#xb0; C., and a ratio of a softening point to a maximum peak temperature of heat of fusion (softening point/peak temperature) of from 0.6 to 1.3. The crystalline polyester can be used as a resin binder for a toner used for developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method, and the like.

Crystalline polyester

A catalyst for preparing condensation polymerization resin for a toner comprising at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a titanium compound represented by the formula (I): Ti(X)(Y)(I), wherein X is a substituted amino group having a total number of carbon atoms of from 1 to 28; Y is an alkoxy group, alkenyloxy group or acyloxy group, each having a total number of carbon atoms of from 1 to 28; and each of n and m is an integer of from 1 to 3, wherein a sum of n and m is 4; and a titanium compound represented by the formula (II): Ti(Z)(II), wherein Z is an alkoxy group, alkenyloxy group or acyloxy group, each having a total number of carbon atoms of from 8 to 28, wherein the four kinds of Z may be identical or different from each other; and a condensation polymerization resin composition comprising a condensation polymerization resin and the above catalyst. The catalyst can be used for preparing a condensation polymerization resin for a toner which is used for developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method, and the like.

Preparing condensation polymerization resin with catalyst for toner

A combination of powder coatings usable in a powder coating method for forming a coating film having visually homogeneous hue by mixing two or more powder coatings of which each color is different. In the combination of powder coatings, each of differences in triboelectric charges of two or more powder coatings is 5.0 &#x3bc;C/g or less. The coating method usable herein includes the step of applying onto a substrate to be coated two or more powder coatings of which each color is different, in which the triboelectric charges are controlled in the above given ranges.

Powder coating

A catalyst for preparing a polyester for a toner, comprising an inorganic tin(II) compound; a polyester resin composition comprising a polyester and the catalyst; and a toner comprising the polyester resin composition. The catalyst for preparing a polyester is suitably used for a toner which is used for developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method, and the like.

Catalyst for preparing polyester for toner

A toner for electrophotography comprising a resin binder comprising a crystalline polyester and an amorphous resin, wherein said crystalline polyester is dispersed in the resin binder in an amount of from 1 to 40% by weight, and wherein 90% or more of a dispersed domain of said crystalline polyester has a diameter of from 0.1 to 2 &#x3bc;m. The toner for electrophotography can be suitably used for developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing, and the like.

A toner comprising a resin binder comprising a crystalline resin; a colorant; and fine inorganic particles, the fine inorganic particles being externally added thereto, wherein a coating ratio of the fine inorganic particles on a surface of the toner is 130 to 300%. The toner can be suitably used for developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method and the like.

Toner

A crystalline polyester obtained by polycondensing monomers comprising 0.1 to 10% by mol of a divalent aromatic compound, wherein the crystalline polyester has a softening point of 85&deg; to 150&deg; C. The crystalline polyester can be suitably used for a resin binder for toner for electrophotography and the like used for developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing, and the like; a polyester resin composition comprising the crystalline polyester.
