The first side of the first sectional part is in contact with the surface of the base member. The light-condensing sheet includes a plurality of lenses each with a light-condensing function ranged on a light transmittance substrate. A magnetic recording medium comprises a first magnetic film and a second magnetic film on a substrate. The second magnetic film is composed of a magnetic material preferred for recording and reproduction, and the first magnetic film is composed of a ferrimagnetic material excellent in thermal stability. Information is recorded in the second magnetic film by using a magnetic head. The first magnetic film is heated by being irradiated with a laser beam to lower coercivity, and the information in the second magnetic film is magnetically transferred to the first magnetic film. The recorded information is stabilized, because the first magnetic film is excellent in thermal stability. The magnetic recording medium is highly resistant to thermal fluctuation, and it has high reliability. A magnetic domain of about 0.1 &#x3bc;m, formed by magnetic recording at a super high density of 50 Gb/inch, is successfully and stably allowed to exist.

Method for recording information data to a recording medium by irradiation with a light beam and application of a magnetic field

A magnetic recording medium based on the perpendicular magnetic recording system includes a substrate; a back layer which is formed on the substrate and which is formed of a soft magnetic material; an in-plane magnetized layer which is formed on the back layer and which has in-plane magnetization; and a recording layer which is formed on the in-plane magnetized layer and which has perpendicular magnetization, wherein the in-plane magnetized layer has a coercivity in an in-plane direction larger than a magnetic field generated by residual magnetization in a perpendicular direction of the recording layer. The influence on the reproduction output, caused by the mirror image effect of the soft magnetic back layer is reduced in wide range recording densities, thereby improving the resolution by decreasing the difference between the reproduction outputs of the magnetic recording medium at the low recording density and at the high recording density.

A magneto-optical recording medium and a method for recording and reproduction thereon are provided in order to reproduce information recorded by multi-valued recording at a high S/N ratio. Disclosed is a magneto-optical recording medium including two magnetic layers capable of four-valued recording based on four combined magnetization states. Magnitudes of reproduction signals concerning the four magnetization states, obtained upon reproduction at a wavelength &#x3bb;, are different from those obtained upon reproduction at a wavelength &#x3bb;. The two-valued or higher multi-valued reproduction signals (f), (g) from the respective wavelengths are mutually subjected to logical operation to reproduce recorded information (i).

Method for recording and reproduction on a magneto-optical recording medium

A magnetic recording medium comprises, on a substrate, a recording auxiliary layer, a recording holding layer, recording control layer, and a recording layer. The recording layer is constructed by using a ferri-magnetic material having perpendicular magnetization. The data can be recorded at a super high density by using the recording and reproducing head of the present invention, because the recording layer has the perpendicular magnetization. The disappearance of data, which would be otherwise caused by the thermomagnetic relaxation phenomenon, is suppressed after recording the data, because the recording layer has large coercive force at the room temperature. The data, which is recorded at the super high density on the magnetic recording medium, can be reproduced by using a magnetic resistance element carried on the recording and reproducing head.

Magneto-optical recording and reproducing method, using reproducing layer with high saturation magnetization

A perpendicular magnetic recording medium has a substrate, a magnetic functional layer provided on the substrate, and a magnetic recording layer stacked in contact with the magnetic functional layer and having perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. &#x2212;4&#xd7;2&#x3c0;Ms&#x2266;Ku&#x2266;6&#xd7;2&#x3c0;Msis satisfied, wherein Ku represents a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant of the magnetic functional layer and Ms represents a saturation magnetization. The magnetic moment of the magnetic functional layer is rotated in a direction of an applied magnetic field during the recording, and the magnetic moment acts on the magnetization of the recording layer in such a manner that the applied magnetic field is assisted thereby. Minute magnetic domains can be stably retained and excellent thermal disturbance resistance can be obtained.

With this higher rotational speed, the data transfer rate is improved, and irregular rotation and the camming are suppressed, thereby reducing tracking errors and write/read errors.

A magneto-optical recording medium has magneto-optical recording layers () and reproducing layers (). The information recorded in the reproducing layers are reproduced by means of reproducing light beams () of different wavelengths, respectively. In reproduction, magnetic domains () recorded in the recording layers are transferred in the reproducing layers formed on the respective recording layers, the transferred magnetic domains () are enlarged with an external magnetic field, and the information is reproduced. Since information is recorded and reproduced for each recording layer, the recording density is improved. Further since the reproduction signals are amplified by the magnetic domain enlargement, the C/N is improved.

Magneto-optical reproducing method using a plurality of different reproducing beams

A magneto-optical recording head comprises a magnetic coil formed on a lower surface of a transparent substrate opposed to a magneto-optical disk. A heat sink layer is provided at the outside of the magnetic coil on the lower surface. An objective lens is supported on an upper surface of the transparent substrate. The heat, which is generated by the magnetic coil, is released via the heat sink layer to the space between the magneto-optical disk and the substrate. The release of the heat is facilitated by the air stream which is generated by the rotation of the magneto-optical disk. The heat can be effectively released from the magnetic coil without inhibiting optical characteristics of the objective lens.

External magnetic fields H(x) or reproducing light beams L(x) having different intensity patterns are applied to an identical recording position on a magneto-optical recording medium so that different pieces of information corresponding to the patterns are reproduced from the identical recording position. A function H(x) or L(x) is a password for obtaining the information. Only a person, who knows the function, can access specified information recorded on the magneto-optical recording medium. The function H(x) or L(x) is a function in which the magnetic field intensity or the light intensity is modulated with respect to the recording position x so that magnetic domains may be thinned out to perform reproduction at a specified cycle from continuous magnetic domains in a recording area. Other than the use for the purpose of security, reproduced C/N can be remarkably improved by performing reproduction n times while radiating a reproducing light beam P /P which is power-modulated so that the high power P is applied at every cycle which is not less than n times the recording clock, to a specified magneto-optical recording medium capable of magnetic domain-magnifying reproduction.
