A heated air ducting structure (20; 200; 300; 360; 400) for motor cycles (50; 350; 450) including an engine (2; 302) mounted at a lower position in the front part of a vehicle body frame (1) and a a rider's seat (4; 401) installed on the vehicle body frame behind the engine. The ducting structure comprises a duct (20a; 208, 208r, 205a, 205c; 321, 314; 361, 365; 404, 405, 409) having a heated air entry (20b; 208c; 322; 362; 407) which, facing a rear portion (2b; 302g) of the engine, takes in heated air that has cooled the engine, and a heated air exit (20c; 205f; 328; 365b; 409b) which opens in the rearward direction of the vehicle.

Heated air ducting structure for motor cycles

A light-weight vehicle frame structure formed by plural tubular structural members which each have a tubular body and a flange integral with the tubular body and extending along the entire length thereof and outwardly of the tubular body, and a plate connected to the flanges of one or more of tubular structural members to reinforce and join them. The tubular body may be round, square or any other shape and the flange may extend radially or tangentially in various embodiments. The plate is bent, cut and formed for the edges to be coplanar with the flanges to which they are attached.

Light-weight vehicle frame structure

A locking device especially useful in locking accessory compartments of motorcycles and the like. Each accessory compartment is provided with a lock mechanism including a pressure-actuated cylinder, a locking member fixed to a piston of the cylinder, and locking fittings through which the locking member projects in the locked position. Pressurized air is supplied to the cylinders to unlock the compartments from a three-way control valve located in a key-lockable compartment.

A motorcycle of the type having horizontally opposed cylinder blocks and rearwardly extending exhaust pipes therefrom having a cover on either side of the vehicle extending from around the underside of the cylinder blocks to at least below the rearwardmost footrest. The cover is a U-shaped cross-sectional structure with an upper side, a lower side and an outward side. A rear wall extends downwardly from immediately behind the cylinder blocks to direct the hot air around the exhaust pipes at the engine downwardly and rearwardly.

A system for a motorcycle to display various vehicle monitoring readings having a lightweight liquid crystal plate element mounted on the vehicle front within easy view of the motorcycle operator and a control unit for the plate element mounted closer to the motorcycle's center of stability. Also incorporated into the system is the provision for rear illumination, by sunlight or by illumination lamp, of such a liquid crystal plate element. An adjustable shielding member mounted on such a liquid crystal plate element assists the motorcycle operator in reducing glare on the display surface of such a plate element.

In motorcycles, motor-tricycles, snow-mobiles, etc. provided with a tandem seat so as to enable tandem riding, a rear end of a rear seat cover which covers a rear seat portion of the tandem seat upon single riding, is swingably supported at a fixing portion on the vehicle body side behind the rear seat portion, and there is provided a stopper for restraing the swinging motion of the rear seat cover at a predetermined rising angle when the rear seat cover has been made to swing in the rising direction. This rear seat cover need not be dismounted even upon tandem riding, but it is utilized as a back rest device upon tandem riding.

A water-cooled engine cooler of the divided type for such vehicles as autobikes, autotricycles, four wheel buggy, etc., is disclosed. The cooler has two radiators for cooling the water-cooled engine, these radiators being inclined with respect to the direction of progress of the vehicle such that their axes extending at right angles to their front intersect with each other at a forward position of the radiator.

A three-wheeled motor vehicle having a vehicle body and an engine mounted on the vehicle body. A pair of laterally spaced wheels is disposed on the front of the vehicle body and a single wheel is disposed on the rear. The speed change transmission has a shift spindle on the same side as the vehicle door and a shift control mechanism includes a shift lever in the driver's compartment on the other side of the vehicle with a laterally extending rod mounted on the floor to transmit the shift selection motion to an operating wire and then to the transmission.

A three-wheeled motor vehicle has a vehicle body on which two front wheels and a single rear wheel are rotatably mounted. The vehicle body includes a front portion covering the two front wheels and having a wide and flat shape, and a rear portion having a driver's compartment and covering the rear wheel, the rear portion being narrower than the front portion and progressively higher in a rearward direction of the vehicle body. The front and rear portions of the vehicle body include slanted continuous side surfaces tapered toward a longitudinal axis of the vehicle body in the rearward direction thereof.

A vehicle travel route indicating apparatus comprising detectors for detecting current travel distance and bearing of a vehicle, respectively; a signal processor for obtaining a current location of the vehicle on two-dimensional coordinates; a memory for storing continuous locational information; a display for indicating a path of travel and a sense mark; and a manual selector for optionally changing the manner of visual indication settings. With such simplified construction, the driver of the vehicle can incessantly determine the status of travel of the vehicle in terms of both distance and bearing aspects during the travel by following the first-hand information displayed at his seat with greater ease and reliability.

Apparatus for visually indicating continuous travel route of a vehicle

An arrangement for indicator meters for automobiles, in which a speed meter and a tachometer are coaxially arranged in a front-and-back positional relationship in the lengthwise direction of the vehicle body so that they may be more readily observed with the least movement of eyes as well as from one and same direction. Also disclosed is an arrangement for the warning indicator devices, in which such warning indicators as turning directions, operating conditions of brakes, dynamo, and so forth are arranged in vacant space around dial plates for the speed meter and tachometer, and such warning indicator devices are accommodated in a cavity formed on the top raised portion of a steering handle column cover. Further, disclosed is an arrangement of a lamp to illuminate the dial plates and the indicator needles of the speed meter and the tachometer, in which the illuminating lamp is fixedly provided at a position in front of the dial plates so as to directly illuminate the dial plates and the indicator needles, and the lamp thus fitted is covered with the top raised portion of the steering handle column cover.
