To provide a cutting insert such that a tool body can sufficiently hold the cutting insert even if one of cutting parts is broken. The cutting insert includes two side surfaces opposed to each other, a fixing hole passing through the centers of the two side surfaces, and an outer circumferential surface that is disposed between the outer circumferential edges of the two side surfaces and are connected to the outer circumferential edges of the two side surfaces. The outer circumferential surface includes four cutting parts, a first outer circumferential surface part that is disposed between the first cutting part and the second cutting part, and a second outer circumferential surface part that is opposed to the first outer circumferential surface part and is disposed between the third cutting part and the fourth cutting part. In a side view of the side surfaces from the axial direction of the fixing hole, the first outer circumferential surface part and the second outer circumferential surface part each have the center recessed toward the fixing hole, and a virtual arc having the same diameter as the diameter of the circumcircle of the cutting insert is in contact with two points on each of the outer circumferential surface parts.

Cutting insert and cutting tool

Provided is a cutting tool that implements both high positioning accuracy and simple operation when the cutting tool is installed in a tool rest. The cutting has: a tool a main body which includes a fixing seat fixing a cutting insert or a cutting edge; and a position pin, which includes a cylindrical portion that is used for positioning the main body by being abutted to an abutting surface of a tool rest in a case of installing the main body in the tool rest, and which is detachable from the main body. The main body includes a female screw hole that is provided with a female screw portion and a tapered surface that is symmetric with respect to a center axis of the female screw portion and that widens toward an opening thereof. The positioning pin includes a male screw portion that engages with the female screw portion, and a contact portion located at a connecting portion that connects an end of the cylindrical portion and an end of the male screw portion. In a case where the male screw portion is engaged with the female screw portion and the positioning pin is installed in the main body, the contact portion contacts the tapered surface, and a center axis of the cylindrical portion and a center axis of the tapered portion match with each other.

Cutting tool

There is provided a cutting insert used for both drilling and turning. The cutting insert includes an insert main body having a front surface and a rear surface, the outline shapes of which are parallelogram shapes, peripheral side surfaces disposed on four sides of the insert main body, cutting edges provided on respective intersecting ridge lines between the front surface and the peripheral side surface and between the rear surface and the peripheral side surface of the insert main body, and a hole provided in the insert main body to incline with respect to the front surface and the rear surface, the hole being usable for attachment.

Cutting insert, holder, and cutting tool that includes cutting insert

A clamping member for reliably inserting a protrusion portion thereof into a mounting hole of a cutting insert so as to engage the protrusion portion with an inner peripheral surface of the cutting insert and strongly clamp the cutting insert on a tool holder. The clamping member includes a body having a top surface engageable with a head of a clamping bolt, a bottom surface facing the tool holder and a bolt hole for insertion of the clamping bolt, and a protrusion portion protruding from the bottom surface and being engageable with a mounting hole formed in the cutting insert. The protrusion portion has an inclined surface facing toward a rotational direction about a center axis of the clamping bolt, the inclined surface is inclined so that the protrusion portion is gradually tapered from a base side thereof proximate the bottom surface toward an end side thereof distal from the bottom surface.
