A method of machining seats of a compressor piston having an approximately hemispherical recess. A surface of a piston extending perpendicular to an axis of the piston is machined by annularly moving a cutting element while the cutting element is rotated with respect to the piston to form an annularly cut portion. The surface is further machined by moving the same cutting element in a direction toward the surface while the cutting element and the piston are relatively rotated to form a hemispherical recess in the surface. The firstly formed annularly cut portion becomes an annular chamfered portion on the periphery of the hemispherical recess. In this way, it is possible to form the hemispherical recess, and the annular chamfered portion on the periphery thereof, with the common cutting tool.

Method of machining seats of compressor piston

A discharge valve apparatus for a compressor includes a valve plate with a port opened, a lead valve fixed on the valve plate, adapted for swingably opening and closing the port elastically, and including a substantially disk-shaped head portion and a neck portion constricted continuously from the head portion, and a retainer fixed on the valve plate, and including an inclining surface adapted for regulating the opening degree of the lead valve, the inclining surface having an inclination varying around an area where the retainer is brought into contact with the head portion of the lead valve when the lead valve fully opens the port. With the discharge valve apparatus, the lead valve can be inhibited from adhering on the retainer through the lubricant contained in the refrigerant, and accordingly the volumetric efficiency deterioration, resulting from the retardation of the lead valve in the returning, can be inhibited. In addition, instead of the inclining surface of the retainer, the discharge valve apparatus may include a contact projection disposed either on a surface of the retainer facing the lead valve or on a surface of the lead valve facing the retainer.

Discharge valve apparatus for compressor

A swash plate type compressor is disclosed which is intended to prevent a hemispherical shoe, provided between the piston and the swash plate, from being spun on slat surface of the swash plate during operation of the compressor. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the swash plate is formed with a step and the shoe with a cut portion engageable with the step so that the shoe is prevented from being spun on the slant surface of the swash plate which provides a turning moment to the shoe. The step is formed by an annular projection having an annular wall portion defining the inner limit of the slant surface area of the swash plate with which the flat face of the hemispherical shoe is kept in sliding contact, and the cut portion of the shoe has a curved surface conforming to the curvature of the annular wall portion. The shoe is located with its cut portion slidably contactable with the annular wall portion.

Swash plate type compressor

A valve assembly in a piston type refrigerant compressor is disclosed. The valve assembly includes a retainer formed integrally with a gasket plate for restricting the opening of a discharge reed valve of the compressor, and having on opposite sides at the distal portion thereof stay portions integral with the gasket plate for rigidly holding the retainer. According to the present invention, provision is made to guide some part of the refrigerant gas compressed in a cylinder bore to be discharged into a discharge chamber in such a way that the influence of the discharge gas pressure on the retainer at its distal end is reduced. In some embodiments of the invention, this is accomplished by guiding and allowing part of the gas to flow toward the proximal portion of the retainer to discharge the gas.

Valve assembly in a piston type compressor

A swash plate type compressor is provided with a plurality of cylinders and a front and rear cylinder blocks having a crank case connected to a suction port. The cylinder blocks are connected to a front and rear housing sections in order to cover the cylinders. Each housing section contains a discharge chamber. A drive shaft is rotatable supported by the cylinder blocks. One end of the drive shaft is sealed within the front housing. A swash plate is mounted on the drive shaft and is rotatably disposed within the crank case. A plurality of two-head pistons engage the swash plate via a pair of shoes. The pistons move within their respective cylinders in cooperation with the swash plate. The refrigerant is sucked into each cylinder via a suction passage, and is then compressed therein. The refrigerant is discharged into the external refrigerating circuit through the front and rear discharge chambers, .and the front and rear discharge ports. A discharge passage is provided within the drive shaft, and interconnects the front and rear discharge chambers. A valve is provided at one end of the discharge passage to control the opening of the discharge port in relation to the pressure difference between the front and rear discharge chambers.

A gasket has a retainer element integrally formed therewith for a reed valve. The retainer element is defined by one or two pairs of contour lines or by a pair of geometrically combined contour lines, and these contour lines are arranged such that no contour line will act as if it were a hinge when the retainer element is subjected to a deformation force thereof, and thus the retainer element is able to sufficiently withstand a deformation force exerted thereon.

A swash plate type compressor comprising a swash plate accommodated in a swash plate chamber. Front and rear housings are attached to the cylinder block to form suction chambers and discharge chambers, respectively. A refrigerating medium is introduced from a suction inlet to the suction chambers via the swash plate chamber and discharged from the discharge chambers. A drive shaft is fixed to the swash plate for reciprocally moving pistons. The drive shaft has a discharge passage in the form of an axial bore formed in the drive shaft for connecting the front discharge chamber to the rear discharge chamber. The discharge passage is thus isolated from the suction system.

A swash plate type compressor having a compressor casing accommodating a swash plate operated compressing mechanism compressing a refrigerant gas supplied from a suction side of a refrigerant circulating circuit and discharging a compressed refrigerant gas into a discharge side of the circuit, and an internal lubricating system for lubricating movable elements of the swash plate operated compressing mechanism by using a lubricating oil reserved in a swash plate chamber and an oil sump provided in the bottom of the compressor casing, the compressor casing having a refrigerant and lubricant separating chamber for separating a lubricant component from a lubricant suspended refrigerant gas generated in the swash plate chamber by a high pressure blow-by refrigerant gas and a mist of the lubricant oil when the gas flows from the swash plate chamber toward the suction side of the refrigerant gas circulating circuit, and a refrigerant gas evacuation passageway extended from the refrigerant and lubricant separating chamber to the suction side of the refrigerant circulating circuit to permit an evacuation of the refrigerant gas after the lubricant separation.

Swash plate type compressor with internal refrigerant and lubricant

A swash plate type compressor having axially spaced inlet chambers and outlet chambers located on the side of angularly spaced pistons having each side thereof pump chambers which are connected to inlet chamber when the medium is introduced into the pump chambers, and are connected to the outlet chamber when the medium is removed to the outlet chambers. A swash plate chamber is arranged inside the cylinder block and cooperates with the pistons via respective shoes for reciprocating the pistons in the respective cylinder bores. An inlet of the fluid to be compressed is opened to the swash plate chamber at a circumferential position along the inner wall of the swash plate chamber. Communication passageways for connection of the swash plate chamber with the inlet chambers are arranged on position spaced farthest from the inlet port. The flow of the lubrication oil contained in the gas to be compressed is generated inside the swash plate chamber and comes into contact with all of the shoes, to lubricate same, before being introduced into the communication passageway from the swash plate chamber.

Swash plate type refrigerant compressor with a separator of refrigerant

A piston for a compressor comprising a ring groove on the outer circumferential surface of the piston, and a discontinuous ring seal member with opposite split ends made of a plastic material and fitted in the ring groove. The ring member having an outer surface comprising a main sealing portion having an axially uniform shape and an outwardly circumferentially projecting flexible lip portion. Also, the inner surface of the ring member comprises an inner bearing portion able to come into contact with a first portion of a bottom surface of the ring groove such that the flexible lip portion of the outer surface is brought into contact with a cylinder wall of the cylinder bore and preflexed inwardly. An inner pressure receiving portion is formed adjacent to the inner bearing portion to receive pressure from the compression chamber, to further flex the flexible lip portion upon a compression stroke of the compressor and thereby allow the ring member to expand and the main sealing portion to come into contact with the cylinder wall of the cylinder bore.

Sealing arrangement for piston in compressor

A continuous seal ring member fitted in a ring groove of a piston of a compressor. The seal ring member has a washer-like initial shape with an internal diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the piston, whereby the inner peripheral portion of the seal ring member is expanded when the seal ring member is fitted in the ring groove. The outer peripheral portion of the ring seal member is then axially and inwardly collapsed relative to the inner peripheral portion thereof so that one of the side surfaces of the initial seal ring member constitutes an outer sealing surface for engagement with the cylinder bore and the outer peripheral portion in the original shape is arranged on the side of said compression chamber. A backup ring member fitted in the ring groove on the side of the continuous seal ring member remote from the compression chamber has a surface area abutting against the side surface of the ring groove on the side remote from the compression chamber and sufficient to retain the continuous seal ring member in the ring groove.
