An resonator electrode material including a ternary alloy composed of Au and two metals Mand M, and being used as an excitation electrode to excite oscillation in a piezoelectric element, wherein the two metals Mand Mare, respectively, (a) metal M: a metal exhibiting a tendency to decrease the temporal frequency property (&#x394;f/f) from the reference value f, and (b) metal M: a metal exhibiting a tendency to increase the temporal frequency property (&#x394;f/f) from the reference value f. The metal Mis preferably at least any one of Ag, Al and Ni, and the metal Mis preferably at least any one of Pd, Ru, Pt, Ir, Rh and Cu.

The crystal unit for surface mounting includes a container body having a recess, a pair of holding terminals formed on an inner bottom surface of the recess and a crystal blank provided with excitation electrodes on both principal surfaces thereof, having a first end and a second end with lead-out electrodes extending from the excitation electrodes toward both sides of the first end. Both sides of the first end are fixed to the holding terminals using a conductive adhesive. Pillow members protruding from the inner bottom surface are provided on the inner bottom surface of the recess at positions corresponding to corners on both sides of the second end. The quartz crystal device includes a container body having: a recess; a pair of holding terminals formed on an inner bottom surface of the recess; and a crystal blank, both principal surfaces of which are provided with excitation electrodes with lead-out electrodes extending from the pair of excitation electrodes toward both sides of one end of the crystal blank. A surface-mount type crystal unit includes a package body which is made of a laminated ceramic and has a bottom wall layer and a frame wall formed on the bottom wall layer, the frame wall layer having an opening. In the package body, a concavity is constructed of the opening. The crystal unit further includes a pair of crystal holding terminals formed on one end part of the inner bottom surface of a concavity which is a top face of the bottom wall layer; a crystal blank held in the concavity by fixing the both sides of the one end part of the crystal blank to the pair of crystal holding terminals; a thermistor; and a cover which closes the concavity. The thermistor is arranged in a hollow part arranged in the top face of the bottom wall layer in the concavity.

Surface-mount type crystal unit

A quartz-crystal unit comprises a container body having a recess, a quartz-crystal blank having a pair of excitation electrodes respectively disposed on one and the other principal surfaces, and a pair of extending electrodes respectively extended from the pair of excitation electrodes, and a cover for sealing an opening plane of the recess. The extending electrodes are led to both sides of one end of the crystal blank, and the one end is secured by a conductive adhesive to hold the crystal blank in the recess in parallel to the cover. The crystal unit satisfies 0&#x3c;d/L&#x3c;0.64, where L is the length from the one end to the other end opposing the one end in the crystal blank, and d is a gap between mutually opposing surfaces of the crystal blank and the cover.
