An engine includes a control unit that controls the EGR valve. The control unit selects a predetermined control mode from at least a first mode, a second mode, and a third mode according to at least an engine speed and a fuel injection amount, and controls the EGR valve in the selected control mode. The first mode is a control mode in which the EGR valve is fully closed. The second mode is a control mode in which the opening degree of the EGR valve is adjusted according to the operation state of the engine. The third mode is a control mode in which an ON period in which the opening degree of the EGR valve is adjusted according to the operation state of the engine and an OFF period in which the EGR valve is fully closed are repeated.

Engine

A control device is configured to estimate a soot deposition amount (PM deposition amount) in a DPF for an exhaust purification device that is configured to purify exhaust of a diesel engine using the DPF, and determine a regeneration timing for the diesel engine based on the estimated PM deposition amount. As a technique of determining the regeneration timing, the control device employs a first determination technique of detecting that the PM deposition amount is a first threshold or more and a state in which the PM deposition amount is the first threshold or more has continued for a first predetermined time and a second determination technique of detecting that the PM deposition amount is a second threshold (>the first threshold) or more and a state in which the PM deposition amount is the second threshold or more has continued for a second predetermined time.

Particle deposition amount estimation device and exhaust purification system

An ECU includes a cooling water temperature sensor, an intake air temperature sensor, a storage unit, a determination unit, and a calibration unit. In an after-run control performed after the internal combustion engine stops, the determination unit compares a cooling water temperature Tw detected by the cooling water temperature sensor with a first threshold value Tand determines that the environment is not the cold environment in which an EGR differential pressure sensor is likely to be frozen, if the cooling water temperature Tw is equal to or higher than the first threshold value T, or if the cooling water temperature Tw is less than the first threshold value Tbut is equal to or higher than a second threshold value Twhich is lower than the first threshold value Tand an intake air temperature Ta from the intake air temperature sensor is equal to or higher than a third threshold value T, and determines that the environment is the cold environment otherwise. When the environment is determined as not to be the cold environment, the calibration unit obtains a calibration reference value based on the detection value from the EGR differential pressure sensor. The storage unit stores the calibration reference value obtained by the calibration unit.

Control device for internal combustion engine

An exhaust gas purifying apparatus includes an oxidative catalyst and a filter that are disposed in an exhaust gas path of an engine; a fuel injecting device that injects fuel according to a fuel injection pattern; and a control device that estimates a deposition amount of a particulate matter and sets the fuel injection pattern. When the fuel injection pattern including post-injection is set to recover the filter, the fuel injection pattern is set such that a post-injection amount is reduced as the deposition amount increases.

Exhaust gas purifying device

Provided is an exhaust purification device for an internal combustion engine, wherein the operation of an internal combustion engine can be prevented from being maintained when a particulate filter is melted. An exhaust purification device is comprised of a particulate filter; a downstream-side temperature sensor which detects a downstream-side exhaust temperature; a filter temperature sensor which detects a filter temperature; an exhaust differential pressure detection device which calculates an exhaust differential pressure between an upstream-side exhaust pressure and a downstream-side exhaust pressure at predetermined time intervals; a notification device; and an ECU which controls the internal combustion engine based on a differential pressure variation first and second exhaust differential pressures or the downstream-side exhaust temperature.
