In a storage system environment in which an upper limit of electric energy consumption is prescribed for a specific period, operation of a storage device are enabled while keeping the electric energy consumption within the prescribed upper limit, and at the same time, maintaining operations of a disk device of a storage device necessary for providing services to a user. The storage system includes a storage device having one or more energized parts and a management device that manages operations of the storage device. The management device acquires electric energy consumption of the one or more energized parts and controls the operational state of the one or more energized parts so that the electric energy consumption of the storage device over a predetermined period does not exceed a prescribed upper limit.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a storage apparatus that can suppress access performance degradation owing to processing of data deduplication. The storage apparatus according to the present invention acquires a sum of the access frequencies to each of redundantly allocated pieces of data, and performs the deduplication on the pieces of data having the sum of access frequencies less than a prescribed threshold.

To maintain reliability even when the repetition of the power saving control for storage systems occurs frequently due to the access from the host computer. During the course of controlling the operation mode of the drives, the controller measures the start/stop cycle count and the load/unload cycle count, calculates the S/S wear-out rate showing the ratio of the measured value of the start/stop cycle count to the first upper limit value and the L/U wear-out rate showing the ratio of the measured value of the load/unload cycle count to the second upper limit value, and for the drives in the idle operation mode, selects the low-speed rotation operation mode if the S/S wear-out rate is greater than the L/U wear-out rate, or selects the standby operation mode if the S/S wear-out rate is less than the L/U wear-out rate.

In a data center, there is a limit in power capacity supplied to a storage apparatus, and the rated power consumption of the storage apparatus may exceed the power supply capacity by addition of storage capacity. A storage apparatus according to the invention includes one or plural packages mounting plural flash memories and a circuit controlling the flash memories as well as information of power supply capacity. The number of flash memories performing writing, erasing or reading at the same time is designated with respect to each package based on the information of power supply capacity.

An automatic analyzer capable of performing analysis in terms of a number of analysis items with high reliability through a simple operation. The automatic analyzer comprises a probe adapted to be moved on a circular arc path and capable of sucking or discharging a sample or reagent, a plurality of sample containers disposed at different positions on the path of the probe and containing different analyte samples, and a rotor capable of carrying a plurality of reagent cartridges. Each of the reagent cartridges comprises a photometric cuvette that is empty when not in use, and a reagent cuvette in which a reagent used for a particular analysis item is hermetically sealed. A two-dimensional code with information regarding the analyte type and analysis conditions, for example, is affixed to the reagent cartridge. The two-dimensional code information is read by a reading unit. Based on the information read from the reagent cartridge, a control unit identifies the sample container in which a analyte sample required by a particular reagent cartridge is contained, and causes the probe to be moved to that sample container. The sample in the sample container is sucked and then discharged into the photometric cuvette of the reagent cartridge. The control unit also causes the probe to suck the reagent in the reagent cuvette of the reagent cartridge and then causes the reagent to be discharged into the photometric cuvette.

The performance of an analyzer is checked on by use of a performance check cartridge which has the same external shape as a reagent cartridge for analyzing samples has; the performance check cartridge holds reagents for checking on the performance of the analyzer, and concurrently holds process conditions and determination conditions for checking on the performance of the analyzer in the form of two-dimensional dot codes; in accordance with the process conditions recorded in the performance check cartridge, the automated analyzer determines the absorbance by use of the reagents filled in the performance check cartridge, and compares a result of the determination with the determination conditions recorded in the performance check cartridge, thereby checking on the performance of the analyzer.

Blood sugar levels are measured non-invasively based on temperature measurement. Non-invasively measured blood sugar level values obtained by a temperature measurement scheme are corrected by blood oxygen saturation and blood flow volume, thereby stabilizing the measurement data. If the measured blood sugar level is larger than a warning value, a warning is issued.

A nonvolatile storage system includes a plurality of nonvolatile memories and a control unit. When having detected a write-in error that occurred at an operation-subject nonvolatile memory, the control unit can set inter-chip alternate information indicating that a storage region related to the write-in error has been replaced by a storage region of any other nonvolatile memory of the plurality of nonvolatile memories to the nonvolatile memory of the storage region related to this error, so that when having received the inter-chip alternate information from the operation-subject nonvolatile memory, the control unit can change the operation subject from the current operation-subject nonvolatile memory to any other nonvolatile memory indicated by this inter-chip alternate information. It is thus possible to rescue a write-in error which occurred at one nonvolatile memory by replacing it with any other chip.
