An image recording apparatus including a recording electrode having electrode needles aligned in columns, a driving circuit for individually applying an image recording voltage to the electrode needles of the recording electrode, a recording medium composed of a conductive layer and a surface insulating layer, and a voltage circuit for applying a predetermined voltage between the recording medium and the electrode needles, whereby fog on the recorded image can be avoided.

Image recording method and apparatus

A printing machine according to the present invention, comprises electrically conductive and magnetically inductive printing toner, an array of electrode-needles contacting with toner, each of the electrode-needles arranged apart from the adjacent electrode-needles in the array and individually energized in accordance with a desired printing pattern to electrify the toner communicating electrically with the energized electrode-needle, recording means including an electrically conductive portion and an insulating surface which extends on the electrically conductive portion and is arranged away from the array of electrode-needles to face thereto and to contact with the toner arranged between the electrode-needles and the insulating surface, the voltage applied to the electrically conductive portion being positive when the voltage applied to the energized electrode-needles is negative or the voltage applied to the electrically conductive portion being negative when the voltage applied to the energized electrode-needles is positive so that the toner electrified by the energized electrode-needle is attracted and attached to the insulating surface by the electrically conductive portion, the insulating surface moving in relation to the array of electrode-needles so that the toner is attached to an area of the insulating surface, magnetic means for attracting the magnetically inductive printing toner to form toner chains between the array of the electrode-needles and the insulating surface, and transferring means for transferring the toner from the insulating surface to a work piece, wherein longitudinally extending surfaces of the electrode-needles face to the insulating surface to electrify the printing toner arranged between the electrode-needles and the insulating surface.

An electrostatic recording head for causing a developing agent to be electrostatically deposited on the surface of a recording member in accordance with a recorded image, comprising a recording electrode having a plurality of linear electrodes arranged in a common plane at a predetermined interval; a magnet disposed at one side of the recording electrode; and a magnetic member disposed at the side of the recording electrode opposite to the magnet; the magnet being disposed such that the magnetic lines of force pass through the end of the recording electrode towards the portion of a recording member opposed by the end of the recording electrode. A method and an apparatus for recording an image is disclosed, in which toner is supplied between a conductive recording drum covered with an insulating material and recording electrodes with the forward end thereof with a small gap from the drum and inclined at a great angle upstream of the direction of rotation of the recording drum. A toner carriage force is generated in the toner to flow out downstream by rotation of the recording drum. A permanent magnet is arranged in the recording drum to form a toner chain inclined at a great angle downstream of the recording drum from the forward end of the recording electrodes. The component of the magnetic force of the magnet in the direction of drum movement is balanced with the toner carriage force. Upon application of a recording voltage to the recording electrodes under this condition, the toner of the most downstream toner chain in contact with the drum surface develops a force of adhesion to the recording drum so that the drum rotates downstream with the toner attached thereon, thus forming an image due to the toner on the recording drum.

The invention discloses a free-flow electrophoretic separation method and apparatus for separating charged substances such as proteins, cells, and the like, by electrophoresis, which comprises supplying a mixed solution containing the charged substances to be separated, which are dissolved in a separation buffer, into a separation chamber, circulating the mixed solution inside the separation chamber, applying a d.c. voltage to the mixed solution to cause the electrophoresis of the charged substances and to separate them, and withdrawing the charged substances thus separated from outlets disposed at one and the other end of the separation chamber.

A upgrading method of low-rank coal containing higher ash and moisture contents into coal decreased in ash content and decreased in moisture content and heightened in heating value includes subjecting the low-rank coal to a low-temperature dry distillation treatment, pulverizing the dry-distilled low-rank coal to form a coal-water slurry and adding a binder to the slurry to effect oil agglomeration of the coal and promote separation of the ash.

Upgrading method of low-rank coal

This invention relates to a method of converting a low-rank coal to produce a high-rank coal which has reduced hygroscopicity as well as increased heating value and lowered moisture content during and after transport or storage. The invention comprises the steps of heat-treating coal for dehydrating the coal and distilling off tar therefrom, vaporizing the tar, and coating the heat-treated coal surface with the tar vapor, whereby the coal surface is coated uniformly.

Method of coal upgrading

This invention relates to a method of upgrading low-rank coal and comprises the steps of dehydrating crushed low-rank coal using a rotary drum in a drying section, dry distilling the low-rank coal dehydrated in the drying section in a rotary drum in a dry distillation section, and cooling subsequently the low-rank coal low temperature dry-distilled in the dry-distillation section in a cooling section and enabling the low-rank coal to adsorb tar that is produced from the low-rank coal in the dry-distillation section. The present invention makes it possible to upgrade continuously large quantities of the low-rank coal with a high moisture content, and hence a low calorific value, to an upgraded coal with an increased calorific value which is not prone to spontaneous generation.
