A system allows a user to select a service on a device and request a service executing function of a server to carry out the service. An authentication function authenticates the user and searches the functions of devices required in the requested service within the authority given to the user. The function acquires and registers the right to use in a device-configuration managing function through a right-to-use managing function. An adaptor delivering function delivers specifications for setting connections between functions required for execution of the service and a group encryption key generated by a key-generating function to devices. Device coordinating functions set device-embedded functions based on the received specifications. The present invention relates to a distributed system in which processors incorporated in machines and objects are mutually linked in operation, and an object of the present invention is to provide a distributed system in which each device can establish a link with a suitable device according to changes in the environment and conditions, independently from the system configuration controlled by a server. In order to achieve the above object, each device provided by the present invention obtains information on surrounding devices through a sensoror communication processing, recognizes the environment around it through environment recognition processing, and stores the environmental information in an environment management table. By employing link control processing, each device shares conditional information stored in a profileand a policyof each device through the communication processing. Each device locally and continuously determines a device to be linked with it or whether to perform a link operation requested by another device, using the shared conditional information, information on the surrounding environment, and the policy. The results of a link operation are made public and shared by each device through the link control processing, and used for narrowing the range of link target devices.

In a distributed system having a plurality of equipment that are interconnected over transmission medium and that include one or more arithmetic units, any of the plurality of equipment notifies a person to be notified about a function of the any of the equipment in accordance with an adaptive communication method in which the notification method is determined by the following steps. The information obtained from the request result is integrated by the service providing computer to be transmitted to the information acquiring computer.

In a distributed processing system including a plurality of programs distributed in a plurality of processing units and in which a program on reception side performs processing using a message transmitted from a program on transmission side, a management table for managing start of programs on reception side is provided in a processing unit in which the program on reception side is provided. A program utilizing the message transmitted from the transmission side is recognized and the recognized program is started at the start timing indicated in the management table. The start timing of the program set in the management table may be registered previously or the message may include information indicating the start timing.

Execution management method of program on reception side of message in distributed processing system

A client (referred to as A) transmits a request to a service mediate server (referred to as B) through a communication medium. B receives information. A server (referred to as C) receives a request for obtaining information from B and transmits information requested by B. B receives a request from A. A service mediate managing unit determines a type of information to be provided to A, based on the attribute information of the content of the request, the customized information of A and C pre-stored in the service mediate managing unit, and various status at the receipt of the request. The service mediate agent selects any one of plural Cs and transmit the request for obtaining information to the selected C. The information received by C is processed by the service mediate agent and the processed information is transmitted to A.
