A water-soluble quenching fluid composition prepared by blending: water, at least one kind selected from a polyoxyalkylene glycol and a derivative thereof (A), and an alkylene glycol ether (B), the polyoxyalkylene glycol or a derivative thereof (A) having a mass average molecular weight of 10,000 or more and 100,000 or less, the alkylene glycol ether (B) having a solubility in 100 mL of water at 20&#xb0; C. of 2.0 g/100 mL-HO or less and a molecular weight per 1 mol of 1,000 g/mol or less.

Water-soluble quenching oil composition

Provided is a water-based quenching liquid composition which is slow in a cooling rate and is able to suppress quenching crack. The water-based quenching liquid composition is one containing water (A), a linear polyalkylene glycol compound (B), and a branched polyhydric alcohol alkylene oxide adduct (C), wherein the linear polyalkylene glycol compound (B) has a mass average molecular weight of 10,000 or more, and the branched polyhydric alcohol alkylene oxide adduct (C) is a mixed adduct of alkylene oxides having 2 to 3 carbon atoms and has a mass average molecular weight of 10,000 or more.

Water-based quenching liquid composition and method for manufacturing metal material using same

A water-soluble quenching fluid composition prepared by blending: water, at least one kind selected from a polyoxyalkylene glycol and a derivative thereof (A), and at least one kind selected from an alkylene glycol ether (B) and a monocarboxylic acid (C), the polyoxyalkylene glycol or a derivative thereof (A) having a mass average molecular weight of 10,000 or more and 100,000 or less, the alkylene glycol ether (B) having a boiling point of 200&#xb0; C. or more and a molecular weight per 1 mol of 1,000 g/mol or less.

A heat treatment oil composition is provided that suppresses the decrease of luster in a heat treatment of a metal material, and is capable of suppressing the increase of the number of second (characteristic number of second) until reaching the temperature where the vapor blanket stage ends with the lapse of time and the decrease of the kinetic viscosity with the lapse of time. The heat treatment oil composition contains (A) a base oil and (B) a vapor blanket breaking agent selected from one or more of a petroleum resin, a terpene resin, rosin, and derivatives thereof.

Disclosed herein is a method of using a water-based coolant for quenching or cutting a metal material. The water-based coolant is formed of: water; at least one inorganic acid salt selected from the group consisting of a carbonate, a hydrogen carbonate, a sesquicarbonate, a phosphate, a borate, a molybdate and a tungstate; a metal corrosion inhibitor; and optionally at least one of a bactericide, a water-soluble rust inhibitor, an antioxidant and a detergent dispersant.

A heat-treatment oil composition contains (A) a first base oil with a kinematic viscosity at 40 degrees C. in a range of 5 mm/s to 60 mm/s in an amount of 50 mass % to 95 mass % of a total amount of the composition, (B) a second base oil with a kinematic viscosity at 40 degrees C. of 300 mm/s or more in an amount of 5 mass % to 50 mass %, and (C) an alpha-olefin copolymer. The heat-treatment oil composition according to the invention can reduce distortion unevenness and hardness unevenness accompanying mass-quenching.

An aqueous heat treatment liquid composition exhibiting a favorable rust resistance with a high cooling capability and a high uneven-cooling resistance is provided. The aqueous heat treatment liquid composition contains a hyperbranched polyglycerol. A mass average absolute molecular weight of the aqueous heat treatment liquid composition is preferably in a range of 5,000 to 500,000. When the aqueous heat treatment liquid composition is used for quenching of a metallic component, the aqueous heat treatment liquid composition can exhibit a favorable rust resistance with a high cooling capability and a high uneven-cooling resistance.

The heat-treating oil composition of the present invention is characterized by comprising a mixed base oil containing a low-boiling base oil having a 5% distillation temperature of from 300 to 400&#xb0; C. in an amount of not less than 5% by mass but less than 50% by mass, and a high-boiling base oil having a 5% distillation temperature of 500&#xb0; C. or higher in an amount of more than 50% by mass but not more than 95% by mass. There is provided a quenching oil composition capable of exhibiting a less fluctuation in hardness or quenching distortion of a metal material treated therewith even when a large number of the metal materials are quenched therewith at the same time.

A quenching oil for reduced pressure quenching which comprises a base oil having a kinematic viscosity at 40&#xb0; C. of 40 mm/s or more and a vapor blanket breaking agent; and a method for quenching wherein the quenching oil is used and quenching is carried out while adjusting the pressure on the surface of the oil. The method allows the achievement of cooling characteristics over a wide range from those conventionally achieved by a cold oil to those by a hot oil, by the use of a single quenching oil.

Quenching oil for reduced pressure quenching and method for quenching

A metal surface temperature measuring device includes: a container to contain a coolant; a measurement target; a heater to heat the measurement target; a moving mechanism for moving the measurement target; and a thermometer to measure the surface temperature of the measurement target. A main body of the measurement target is formed of silver or copper, and a surface of the main body is coated with a thin film of pure iron or an iron alloy at a thickness of 1 to 100 &#x3bc;m. Further, at least the container, the heater, and the measurement target are disposed in a chamber of an inert gas atmosphere.

Provided is a quenching method capable of producing quenched articles having little distortion and having a desired hardness. The quenching method with a coolant is specifically so controlled that the surface of the quenching bath is kept under pressure all the time throughout the step of cooling the articles being processed therein.

A heat treatment oil composition comprising a mixed base oil containing 50-95 weight % of (A) a low viscosity base oil with kinematic viscosity of 5-60 mm/s at 40&#xb0; C., and 50-5 weight % of (B) a high viscosity base oil with kinematic viscosity of more than 300 mm/s at 40&#xb0; C. is proposed. By the use of this heat treatment oil composition for hardening of metallic material, it enables to generate little cooling unevenness, to assure the hardness of hardening processed product, and to reduce quenching distortion.

Disclosed is a refrigerator oil composition comprising at least one base oil selected from mineral oils and synthetic oils, and at least one polyether compound having a kinematic viscosity of from 200 to 10000 mm.sup.2 /sec at 100.degree. C. The composition has an excellent lubricating property, while specifically improving the lubricity of bearings. This is effective for preventing bearings from being seized and fatigued, and is suitable as a lubricating oil in refrigerators using hydrogen-containing Flon refrigerants, such as R134a, that do not cause environmental pollution.
