Bone connector including a first joint and a second joint insertable and securable into respective cut bone pieces for joining the cut bone pieces. Each joint has a flat end surface flush with the cut end of the corresponding cut bone piece when secured therein. The first joint includes a stepped hole having a coaxial hole portion, a shoulder with a surface substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the joints, and an innermost engaging portion. The second joint includes a stepped shaft having a first shaft fitting the coaxial hole portion and an engaging portion for engaging the innermost engaging portion of the first joint, which hold the joints coaxially along a line, as well as a plate spring member. The joints both include cylindrical bodies of substantially equal diameter for connecting the cut bone pieces, and at least outer surface portions of the joints are made of a material having a bioactive affinity with the human body or biocompatibility with human tissue. The plate spring member is deformed as it passes the coaxial hole portion and restored to abut the surface of the shoulder perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, for locking the joints and flush connecting the flat end surfaces with each other.

Bone connector

A detecting apparatus which detects an inclination of an objective lens relative to a reference surface is provided. The objective lens is part of an optical data recording and reproducing apparatus in which data is optically recorded on and reproduced from a recording medium which is placed parallel to the reference surface. The apparatus includes a transparent parallel plate which is opposite the objective lens, parallel to the reference surface, and made of a material that is substantially optically equivalent to a transparent material of the recording medium. The apparatus further includes a reflecting mechanism for reflecting coherent light which has passed through the objective lens and the transparent parallel plate back towards the transparent parallel plate and the objective lens, and a beam splitting mechanism for splitting the coherent light into a first beam and a second beam. The apparatus further includes a wavefront rotating mechanism for rotating the first beam and the second beam about an optical axis in a manner such that the first beam and the second beam are rotated through 180 degrees with respect to one another, and a mechanism for superposing the first beam and the second beam to produce an optical interference.

Inclination of an objective lens in an optical information system

An apparatus for measuring a wave front aberration includes a light beam splitter for dividing a parallel laser light beam made incident from a measuring object into two beamfluxes, an image rotator disposed in at least one optical path of the divided beam fluxes for rotating the wave front on the optical axis, an interference device for interfering after superposing the beam fluxes whose wave fronts are rotated relatively, an imaging lens for forming the interfered beam into an image, and an observation device for observing the imaged interference fringes.

Wave front aberration measuring apparatus having means for adjusting

A mechanism for adjusting an optical axis of an optical device, particularly in an optical information recording and reproducing system, in accordance with which the optical axis is movable in two directions, independently of each other. Various parts of the optical system, such as an anamorphic prism and a fixed prism, may be moved to adjust the degree of parallelism and/or displacement of a laser beam. A laser ray source in the system also may be movable independently in different directions.
