In a test disc, data (test data) is recorded in such a manner as to fill an entirety of a data region and, next to this test data, border-out data is recorded which contains information indicating that recording is prohibited. By determining whether the data can be played back appropriately from a position in the vicinity of an outer periphery of the disc where playback characteristics are apt to be unstable, whether the data can be played back appropriately from all of the regions is verified. Also, by determining whether it is possible to recognize that test disc is capable of recording, it is verified whether the border-out data can be smoothly acquired from the position in the vicinity of the outer periphery of the disc where playback characteristics are apt to be unstable.

Based on the judged recording state, the optical output from the optical head to be emitted when resuming the data recording is controlled. A timing at which to suspend data recording can be desirably set, so that the recording state of the recorded data in the disk can be judged at desirable timing in data recording operation, so that the optical output from the optical head is controlled based on the judged recording state.

There is disclosed an optical disk recording/reproducing apparatus in which a recording operation is interrupted and resumed based on an amount of a signal stored in a buffer RAM for temporarily storing a recording signal. The operation is controlled by a host apparatus connected to an external peripheral apparatus via a data bus. Furthermore, when reset processing is performed by attachment/detachment of the optical disk recording/reproducing apparatus during the recording operation of the signal onto the disk, the host apparatus outputs a command signal for identifying the optical disk recording/reproducing apparatus.

Control method of optical disk recording/reproducing apparatus

When a record decision unit judges that recording has been interrupted, the recording data in a predetermined frame is ended. Data are continuously recorded onto a disk until the frame synchronous signal duration following the predetermined frame. Thereafter, the control output generated from the head output controller is controlled to interrupt the recording operation. When the record decision unit judges the resuming of recording, the control output from the head output controller is controlled to resume the recording operation onto the disk from the frame synchronous signal duration in which the recording of data onto the disk has been interrupted.
