A metallic plate that is a structure of a release member, the release member being configured to be integrally rotatable with a reel accommodated in a case, and the release member moving a locking member from a locking position, at which the locking member locks rotation of the reel relative to the case, to an allowing position, at which the locking member allows rotation of the reel. The metallic plate comprises a touching surface that is to be touched by a distal end of a sliding protrusion portion that protrudes from the locking member; and a structure such that, if a plurality of the metallic plate are stacked in a plate thickness direction in a state in which the metallic plates are not attached to release members, the touching surface of each metallic plate is not in contact with any other of the metallic plates.

A magnetic tape cartridge includes a substantially rectangular box shaped case that houses, inside a housing area, a single reel wound with a magnetic tape and equipped with a reel plate that is attracted and held by magnetic force when loaded into a drive device, and a metal-containing block that is disposed inside the case and outside the housing area of the reel, and has a proportion of metal by mass to a total mass of metal provided inside the case including the reel equipped with the magnetic tape and the reel plate of 18% or greater.

A recording tape cartridge includes: a reel having a cylindrical hub with a bottom and a reel gear formed therein with recording tape wound therearound; a casing; a brake component; and a releasing component that is provided between the bottom of the hub and the brake component and which has plural legs inserted through plural through-holes formed on the reel gear where, when in use, the plural legs are pressed upwards by a drive gear of a drive device, whereby the releasing component lifts the brake component, releases engagement with the engaging portion and rotates with the reel. The legs are formed into approximate D shapes in plan view whose outer side surfaces facing an inner peripheral surface of the hub are flat surfaces, while the through-holes are formed into approximate D shapes in plan view through which the legs can each be inserted.

A method of mounting a mounting member onto a member to be mounted, at least one of which is resin-molded is carried out by molding the mounting member and the member to be mounted and mounting the mounting member to the member to be mounted, utilizing post-molding shrinkage. Accordingly, neither formation of fitting portions of the pivot member and the hub member nor pressing of the pivot member into the hub body is needed, whereby reels can be manufactured with high productivity.

Method of mounting a resin-molded member

A recording tape cartridge is structured so as to accommodate, within a case, a reel on which is wound a magnetic tape which is a recording medium. The recording tape cartridge has a so-called WORM function such that overwriting of data on a recording region of the magnetic tape where data is already written, is prohibited. Within the case are provided a first memory board which stores data managing information for managing data written on the magnetic tape, and a second memory board which stores WORM managing information for managing writing of data to the magnetic tape.

Recording medium cartridge

In a magnetic tape cartridge () having a metal plate () at the central portion of the bottom surface of a reel hub () with a reel gear () being defined around its periphery, the metal plate () is disposed in a manner such that the outer periphery of the metal plate () is positioned under the inner facing surface of the reel gear (). As a result, occurrence of a sink mark during molding at a portion where the reel gear () is formed and deformation of the reel hub () due to tape widing tention are prevented.

A reel comprises a hub onto which recording tape is wound and a flange that is disposed on an end portion of the hub and retains a width-direction end portion of the recording tape, wherein plural cutout portions that locally divide the hub and the flange are formed in the flange. The cross section of the hub in plan view has a substantially equilateral triangular shape and positions where constricting force resulting from the tape reaches a maximum are caused to protrude in advance.

Reel and recording tape cartridge

Retention portions that retain a leader member of recording tape are formed inside a case, and a spring member pushes the leader member toward the retention portions. The spring member contacts support point members, and the support point members serve as support points when the spring member deforms. The support point members, which are disposed such that they protrude from side walls of the case, include a height Dfrom an inner surface (attachment reference surface) of the side walls. The spring member is bent such that its height at positions contacting the support point members from the attachment reference surface includes a height Din a state where the spring member is not attached to the case. Here, D&#x2266;D. When the spring member is attached to the case, the spring member always contacts the support point members. Thus, the pushing force of the spring member is stable.

A reel which rotates to wind or feed out the recording or recordable tape wound therearound is set in a cartridge. The reel rotation is locked by a reel lock that seizes the reel by being pushed against the reel with a spring and is unlocked by the release pad pushed back against the force of the spring. The release pad has a pivot, of which tip has a partial globe shape head, on the surface facing to the reel lock and the reel lock has a recess on the surface facing to the release pad. The curvature of the recess is larger than that of the pivot. The head of the pivot contacts within the recess. Then the pivot and the recess on reel lock surface can keep uniformly wear out in tape winding or feeding out and the reel lock hardly generates sound noise in the operation.

The present invention aims to prevent damages of a magnetic tape in a magnetic tape cassette adapted to be operated in a recording and reproducing apparatus which can similarly operate a plurality of magnetic tape cassettes. More specifically, in the invention, differences (A&#x2212;B, A&#x2212;B) between heights A, Aof radially inner portions (), () of lower flanges (), () and heights B, Bof ribs (), () of lower halves (), () for restricting a height of the magnetic tape are equal (A&#x2212;B=A&#x2212;B) in a plurality of the magnetic tape cassettes which have the same vertical sizes and different sizes in a horizontal direction.

Magnetic tape cassette

A magnetic tape cassette and a guide roller in which the magnetic tape can stably travel and the magnetic head can read/write the record correctly, and a method of manufacturing the guide roller are provided. The magnetic tape cassette of the present invention comprises a guide rollerrotatably supported by the lower cassette half. The guide roller is almost in the shape of a barrel of which a coefficient of curvature T expressed by the expression [1] representing the extent of curvature of the circumferential surface is in the range between 0.001 and 0.01, and comprises a primary molding and injected resin injected within the primary molding for bulging said primary molding into the shape of said barrel shaped cavity that has a largest diameter at the parting line by the injection pressure.

Process of making a guide roller for a magnetic tape cassette

In a magnetic tape cassette, a top end portion of a reel urging plate spring for urging a tape reel is subjected to a surface treatment to prevent from a friction. A distance between a couple of flanges of the tape reel is selected to keep a form of the wound magnetic tape, and to prevent the tape running from being disturbed by the increases of a contract resistance of the tape edges to the flanges. Additionally, positioning portions for positioning the magnetic tape cassette relative to a magnetic tape drive device are formed of a differential resin from the resin of the remaining part of the cassette case. Additionally, at least one of both end faces of each guide roller is surface treated so that the end face is not worn through its contact with the cassette half. Further, an information presenting section for displaying variable information is provided at a location other than label areas of the tape cassette.

A recording tape cassette capable of allowing a thin recording tape to run properly. At this recording tape cassette, a pair of reels which include lower flanges and upper flanges at vertical ends of reel hubs are each rotatably accommodated in a case. The reels cause a magnetic tape to run while winding from one reel and winding onto the other reel. At least one of the lower flange and upper flange of each reel, which contacts the running magnetic tape, are formed by resin-molding using a resin material whose surface electrical resistance value is 1&#xd7;10&#x3a9; or less, and is resistant to static charging. Consequently, a thin magnetic tape whose thickness is less than 13 &#x3bc;m runs suitably without being drawn toward the lower flanges or the like by electrostatic force.
