A low-cost electrochemical capacitor is provided which has high capacity and excellent charging and discharging characteristics, simultaneously has excellent safety and reliability, and has the basic performance as a capacitor, achieved in that between a negative electrode and a positive electrode, a solution of a specific polyether copolymer, an inorganic or organic filler, and an electrolyte salt is selected as appropriate as the electrolyte and is held between the two electrodes. This low-cost electrochemical capacitor has the basic performance of a capacitor, has high capacity and excellent charging and discharging characteristics, and simultaneously has excellent safety and reliability.

Electrochemical capacitor

A low-cost electrochemical capacitor is provided which has high capacity and excellent charging and discharging characteristics, simultaneously has excellent safety and reliability, and has the basic performance as a capacitor, achieved in that, as the electrolyte between a negative electrode and a positive electrode, a solution of an ambient temperature molten salt and a specific polyether copolymer is allowed to gel using a specific photoreaction initiator and is held between the two electrodes. This low-cost electrochemical capacitor has the basic performance of a capacitor, has high capacity and excellent charging and discharging characteristics without use of a separator, and simultaneously has excellent safety and reliability.

Provided is a binder for battery electrodes which includes a polymer including: structural units (1) derived from a (meth)acrylate monomer (A) having a hydroxyl group; structural units (2) derived from a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate monomer (B); and structural units (3) derived from a reactive surfactant (C). This binder is used to prepare electrodes, and produce batteries such as lithium ion secondary batteries. Provided are: an aqueous binder which has a low environmental impact, exhibits excellent binding properties, and, notably, does not cause oxidation degradation under an electrode environment; and an electrode and a battery which use said binder.

This binder for battery electrodes is characterized by containing a polymer including: (A) a structural unit represented by general formula (1) and derived from a monomer having a hydroxyl group (in the formula, R1 is a hydrogen or a C1-C4 straight-chain or branched alkyl group, R2 and R3 are each a hydrogen or a C1-C4 straight-chained or branched alkyl group, and n is an integer of 2-30); (B) a structural unit derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of a difunctional carboxylic acid group, a nitrile group and a ketone group; and (C) a structural unit derived from a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate monomer having at most five functional groups.

Binder for battery electrode, and electrode and battery using same

Disclosed is a battery electrode binder containing a polymer including (1) a constituent unit derived from a (meth)acrylate monomer (A) having a hydroxyl group, (2) a constituent unit derived from a vinyl ester monomer (B), and (3) a constituent unit derived from a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate monomer (C). Using the binder, an electrode is produced and adopted in a battery such as a lithium ion secondary battery. Obtained are: an aqueous binder that has a low environmental impact, has high adhesiveness, and in particular does not cause oxidative degradation in the electrode environment; and a battery and electrode using the binder.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an aqueous binder having high adhesiveness, that in particular does not exhibit oxidative degradation in an electrode environment, and having little environmental load; and an electrode and a battery that use same. A polymer electrolyte composition characterized by comprising: (1) a crosslinked material of a polyether binary copolymer which has a main chain comprising repeating units represented by the formula (i) and crosslinking units represented by the formula (ii) and which has a weight-average molecular weight of 10to 10, (2) an electrolyte solution comprising an aprotic organic solvent, (3) an additive, as an optical ingredient, which comprises an ether compound having an ethylene oxide unit, and (4) an electrolyte salt compound comprising a lithium salt compound. A polyether copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 10to 10, formed from 3 to 30% by mol of a repeating unit derived from propylene oxide, 96 to 69% by mol of a repeating unit derived from ethylene oxide, and 0.01 to 15% by mol of a crosslinkable repeating unit derived from a reactive oxirane compound, gives a provide a crosslinked solid polymer electrolyte which is superior in processability, moldability, mechanical strength, flexibility and heat resistance, and has markedly improved ionic conductivity.

A solid polymer electrolyte obtained by blending (1) a polyether copolymer having a main chain, which is derived form ethylene oxide, and a side chain having two oligooxyethylene groups, (2) an electrolyte salt compound, and, if necessary, (3) a plasticizer which is any one of an aprotic organic solvent or a derivative or metal salt of a polyalkylene glycol having a number-average molecular weight of 200 to 5,000 or a metal salt of the derivative, is superior in ionic conductivity and also superior in processability, moldability and mechanical strength to a conventional solid electrolyte. A secondary battery is constructed by using the solid polymer electrolyte in combination with a lithium metal negative electrode and a lithium cobaltate positive electrode.
