Apparatus for decomposing a polyurethane resin and recovering the decomposed polyurethane resin as a polyamine compound and a polyol compound. The apparatus includes a first reactor that decomposes the polyurethane resin as the target compound of hydrolysis decomposition; a second reactor that hydrolyzes the decomposed target compound of decomposition with either one of supercritical water and high-temperature high-pressure water to a decomposition product mixture; a water supplier that feeds either one of supercritical water and high-temperature high-pressure water to the second reactor; and a post-processor that causes the decomposition product mixture discharged from the second reactor to be subjected to a post treatment procedure, such as dehydration, addition, distillation, separation, and liquid separation to recover the polyamine compound and the polyol compound.

Apparatus for decomposition and recovery of polyurethane resin

A process for hydrolyzing and recycling polyurethanes as target compounds to be hydrolyzed into raw materials or derivatives thereof for the target compounds, comprising bringing pressurized water in a liquid state at a temperature of 190 to 370&deg; C. into contact with the target compounds in a reactor to hydrolyze the target compound; followed by post-processings, such as dewatering, addition, distillation, separation, and liquid separation for a hydrolyzed reaction product discharged from the reactor.

Process for hydrolyzing and recycling a polyurethane

A polyether polyol produced by using an N-amino-ethylpiperazine-ethylene oxide aduct as an initiator and addition-polymerizing an alkylene oxide thereto and having a molecular weight of about 2000 to 7000; a process for producing a flexible urethane foam starting with the above polyether polyol; a process suited for the production of a hot-cure urethane foam which comprises using the above polyether polyol with a hydroxyl value of 40 to 80 mg KOH/g and, as a blowing agent, 4.6 to 6.0 weight parts of water based on 100 weight parts of the polyol; and a process suited for the production of a cold-cure urethane foam which comprises using the above polyether polyol with a hydroxyl value of 23 to 50 mg KOH/g and, as a blowing agent, 2.5 to 5.0 weight parts of water on the same basis. The use of the polyether polyol enables the production of a low-density, low-hardness flexible urethane foam using a small amount of water, without requiring any environment-unfriendly chlorofluorocarbon and without being accompanied by deterioration of humid age compression set and other characteristics.

A polyurethane foam produced by the reaction of a polyisocyanate and a polyether polyol in the presence of a catalyst, a cell regulating agent and water as a blowing agent, the polyether polyol of which consists of a halogenated polyether polyol (I) of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein x is a number of 0 to 7; y is a number of 2 to 3; A is a saturated or unsaturated, brominated polyol residue having a number of functional groups of y; R is hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms and (II) a polyether polyol having a number of functional groups of 2 to 8, a weight ratio of the added amounts of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide within the range of about 75 to 95/25 to 5 and a hydroxyl number of about 20 to 100 mgKOH/g, whereby a weight ratio of (I) to (II) is about 95 to 25/5 to 75 and the amount of water is about 5 to 20 parts by weight against 100 parts by weight of the polyol component. The polyurethane foam has uniform and open cells and shows excellent physical properties in compressive strength, tensile strength, excellent sound absorption characteristics and flame resistance, and is therefore used as thermal insulation materials, acoustic absorption materials and shock absorption materials for houses, vehicles, etc.

These polyetherpolyols are obtained by reacting alkylene oxide with compounds containing active hydrogen atoms, part or all of which comprise the reaction product obtained by heating the distillation residue secured as a byproduct in the distillation process of a crude polyisocyanate in the presence of (1) water, alcohols and/or amines and (2) hydroxides or oxides of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals and/or monoalkanolamines.
