A wiper arm including an arm head having an arm head body and cover member. The cover member is attached to the arm head body and can open and close. The mechanical strength of the arm head can be increased. The arm head includes a head cap which is rotatably attached to rotating shafts and provided on the inner side surfaces of both side sidewalls of an arm head body. When the head cap is in its closed position, a front-side half section of the head cap is disposed between both side sidewalls. On the rear surface of a rear-side half section of the head cap, a cylindrical cap-side fitting section is provided and fits with a nut disposed on the arm head body. The cap-side fitting section includes slits and is formed so that the height in its vertical direction decreases in a front-side portion.

Vehicular lead storage battery and vehicle equipped therewith

There is provided a wiper arm rotatably connecting an arm body to an arm head and including a spring member provided between the arm head and the arm body, the thickness of which is decreased while its mechanical strength is sufficiently maintained. A gap section reaching a pivot shaft hole is provided in a head connection section of a retainer. A recess is provided on a pivot shaft section of an arm head. During the retainer rotates, a straight section of the coil spring moves from the gap section to the recess. When the retainer reaches its upright position, the straight section is disposed within the recess. The pivot shaft section includes a projection disposed within the gap section and in contact with the divided pieces, on the both sides of the gap section.

There is provided a wiper arm including a head cover attached to an arm head and securely preventing the head cover from coming off the arm head. A wiper arm () includes an engaging protrusion () which extends upward and is disposed on a step section () formed at a lower end of a dent section () formed on a side surface of an arm head (), and a protruding engagement section () formed near a lower end of an inner surface of a side wall () of a head cover (). An opening section (A) opening downward is formed in the protruding engagement section (). The engaging protrusion () fits into the opening section (A) along a vertical direction, namely, a direction along the side wall (). The open end of the side wall () of the head cover () is thereby prevented from being widened outward so that the head cover () is prevented from coming off the arm head ().

A power generation unit includes a motor generator having a rotor with magnet, and a stator with coils driven in a plurality of phases, the coils of the respective phases not being connected to each other; and a driving control part that performs control so that a coil of each phase of the stator is brought into any one of a first state in which torque is generated by the rotor, a second state in which both ends of the coil are electrically released, and a third state in which both ends of the coil are short-circuited.

Power generation unit, and motor generator control method

A generator motor unit includes a generator motor including a rotor equipped with magnets, and magnetic bodies that protrude from a wall surface, a first stator that makes magnetic flux act on the magnets, thereby generating torque in the rotor, and a second stator that makes magnetic flux act on the magnetic bodies, thereby generating torque in the rotor; and a controller that controls energization of coils of the first stator and the second stator.

A battery charging apparatus for a vehicle includes a driver, a position detector, and a controller. The driver includes switching elements to convert three-phase AC power outputted from a winding of each phase of a stator of a three-phase AC generator into DC power to supply the DC power to a battery. The position detector is configured to output a position detection signal indicating a position of a rotor of the three-phase AC generator. The controller is configured to control the switching elements to be switched between an energized state and non-energized state. The controller is configured to have a maintenance period during a period until next input of the position detection signal if the period exceeds an energization period. The switching elements are to be maintained in the maintenance period in the energized state or non-energized state immediately before the period exceeding the energization period.

Battery charging apparatus for vehicle

A battery charging apparatus includes a plurality of input terminals which are connected to respective phases of a three-phase AC dynamo, and a rectifying circuit including a plurality of rectifying elements and a plurality of switching elements. A switching element control unit and pulse generation unit are provided, for controlling the turning on/off of the switching elements, and for generating a pulse signal, respectively. The switching element control unit is configured to control the plurality of switching elements, and includes a potential difference detection unit configured to detect potential differences between potentials of input terminals, and a specifying unit configured to determine a phase order of AC outputs which are input to the input terminals.

Battery charging apparatus

A battery charging apparatus includes a position sensor for outputting a position detection signal, a sensor for detecting an output current or voltage of a predetermined phase, a regulator for supplying DC power obtained by rectifying three-phase AC from the generator to a battery, and an inverter control section for executing energization control of the respective switching elements of the regulator based on a phase of an induced voltage of the generator calculated on the basis of the position detection signal. The inverter control section inputs a revolution speed signal Ne of the generator, the position detection signal Tp, and either output signal out of a current signal or a voltage signal detected by the sensor, and estimates an error of an attaching position of the position sensor with respect to the induced voltage of the predetermined phase based on the position detection signal and the output signal.

A method and a system for detecting a crank angle of an engine includes detecting a non-toothed portion of a crank pulse rotor during a inlet valve open period for preventing falsely recognizing compression top dead center as a position of the non-toothed portion. A crank angle sensor is arranged at a position facing an outer circumference of a crank pulse rotor including a non-toothed portion thereof. An interval calculating unit measures crank pulse time intervals between adjacent teeth based on a sensing signal received from the crank angle sensor. The measured successive crank pulse time intervals are compared for detection of the non-toothed portion. A ratio calculating unit calculates a ratio of crank pulse intervals. A maximum ratio detecting unit determines presence of the non-toothed portion when the calculated ratio of crank pulse interval is the maximum in the cycle of the engine.

Method and system for detecting a crank angle of an engine

A stroke detection apparatus performs a stroke detection of 4-cycle engine based on a rotary engine speed when a throttle opening is large. A first crank-pulse time interval between a crank pulse inputted before a top dead center by 30&#xb0;, and a crank pulse of the top dead center is measured by a pulse-interval calculation unit, and at the same time, a second crank-pulse time interval between a crank pulse inputted after the top dead center by 60&#xb0; and a crank pulse inputted after the top dead center 90&#xb0; is measured. An interval difference calculation unit calculates time-interval difference by subtracting the second crank-pulse time interval from the first crank-pulse time interval, for two continuous top dead centers. A stroke detection unit determines whether two top dead centers are a compression top dead center or an exhaust top dead center based on magnitudes of the time-interval differences.

Method and apparatus for detecting a stroke of a 4-cycle internal combustion engine, based on changes in rotary engine speed

To enable a circuit configuration to be easily changed over depending on whether a recoil starter is present or absent. A battery charged by a generator driven by an engine, a charging circuit for charging the battery by the generator, and a drive electric power supply circuit for supplying engine drive system loads with electric power generated by the generator, are provided. In a system having a recoil starter, a contact configuration is adopted in which, when an ignition switch is changed over to a recoil start position, the charging circuit is disconnected and the drive electric power supply circuit is connected. The disconnection of the charging circuit may be conducted by use of a charging inhibition relay. The charging inhibition relay is formed as a sub harness, and, in a system not using the recoil starter, the sub harness is replaced by a sub harness in which the charging inhibition relay is not mounted.

Electric power supply system for vehicle

To enable restart of an engine by detecting that a vehicle is restored to the upright position after overturning in an early state. An acceleration sensor having a detection axis laid laterally of a vehicle body is integrated into an ECU and mounted on the vehicle body. Outputs of the acceleration sensor are weighted and averaged, and when an average value exceeds an overturn threshold repeatedly, an overturn determination unit determines that the vehicle is overturned. On the other hand, when outputs of the acceleration sensor are determined to be below a restoration threshold, and the determination is repeatedly made, it is determined that the vehicle is restored from the overturned state. The engine is stopped when determination of overturn is made, while restart of the engine is enabled when determination of restoration is made. Especially, the reference value of determination is set so that determination of restoration is made at an early stage.

Engine control apparatus for motorcycles

A method of and apparatus for preventing data destruction in a multiplex communication system. The invention is useful in a bit serial scheme to prevent transmission data from being destroyed by collision caused by the time delay in transmission data between transmitter and receiver. After sending transmission data, a transmitter starts a transmission clock when a receiver has received the data. When the received data has become non-priority, the receiver resets the reception clock. The transmitted data is compared with the received data, and the transmission is stopped whenever a mismatch is detected. In addition, a non-prioritized bit signal is provided after the unit address for determining transmission priority in the above-mentioned transmission data format. The invention is useful in preventing data destruction in a vehicle control system, which controls the operation of a plurality of units mounted on a vehicle, e.g. an ABS system, a vehicle speed sensor, a cam pulser, and other vehicle systems.

Method of preventing data destruction in multiplex communication system

An ignition device of the capacitor discharge type for small automobiles or two-wheeled vehicles, having an A.C. generator with a converter which transforms the alternating current supplied by a stator coil into direct current, increasing the voltage. Ignition voltage is provided by a charging control which releases the charge stored in a capacitor with the required timing.
