In some implementations, a power balancing device may monitor a power supply module (PSM) that includes multiple power supply channels. The PSM may be part of a power supply system for a network component that includes multiple PSMs, with each of the multiple PSMs being associated with a maximum output power. The power balancing device may determine that at least one power supply channel, of the multiple power supply channels, is inoperable. The power balancing device may determine, based on determining that the at least one power supply channel is inoperable, a revised maximum output power for the PSM based on a maximum allowable input current to each power supply channel, of the multiple power supply channels. The power balancing device may cause the PSM to output a power that is less than or equal to the revised maximum output power.

Power balancing for a power supply system

A power supply assembly includes an input module that includes one or more captive screws, one or more first power supply connection components, and one or more first input feed connection components; and a power supply unit that includes one or more captive screw connection switches, one or more second power supply connection components, and one or more second input feed connection components. An apparatus may include (1) a terminal connector configured to be electrically coupled to a power interface of a computing device, (2) an inline terminal block assembly that is independent of the terminal connector, (3) at least one terminal-side power cable configured to be electrically coupled between the terminal connector and the inline terminal block assembly, and (4) at least one distribution-side power cable configured to be electrically coupled between the inline terminal block assembly and a power distribution system.

A device may include a power supply module (PSM). The PSM may receive information regarding one or more programmable restrictions associated with a power supply. The PSM may receive a measurement of voltage associated with the power supply. The PSM may determine a current associated with the power supply based on the one or more programmable restrictions, the measurement of voltage, and a first amount of power associated with the power supply. The PSM may cause a load associated with the power supply to be adjusted based on determining the current without removing power for a connection between the power supply and a power source associated with the power supply. The PSM may cause the power supply to provide a second amount of power based on causing the load associated with the power supply to be adjusted.

A device may select a power supply module (PSM), from a plurality of PSMs that operate in a current sharing mode, for performing a health check. The device may perform the health check on the selected PSM by iteratively modifying an output voltage of the selected PSM and monitoring for a corresponding modification in an output current of the selected PSM. The device may determine whether the selected PSM is capable of delivering a particular load without a failure based on performing the health check. The device may perform an action based on whether the selected PSM is capable of delivering the particular load without the failure.

A system may include a power source selector device connected to a plurality of power sources. The system may also include multiple power supply modules (PSMs). A first PSM, of the multiple PSMs, may be connected to a first output of the power source selector device. The first output of the power source selector device may be different from the second output of the power source selector device. The system may also include a controller device connected to the power source selector device and each of the multiple PSMs.

The disclosed apparatus may include (1) at least one power interface that unites a plurality of power supplies that output electrical power for consumption by a network device that facilitates network traffic within a network and (2) a power-management unit communicatively coupled to the plurality of power supplies, wherein the power-management unit (A) detects an operating temperature of a power supply within the plurality of power supplies that output electrical power for consumption by the network device, (B) determines that the operating temperature of the power supply exceeds a temperature threshold, and then (C) modifies an amount of electrical power being output by the power supply to account for the operating temperature exceeding the temperature threshold. Power distribution within high-power networking equipment

A system and method for providing power to a set of logic cards that enables approximately twice as much power to be supplied to the logic cards than would normally be available using conventional power supply systems and methods. The system includes a system backplane having a split power plane, wherein each half of the split power plane receives power from a separate power supply circuit. Preferably, the power supply circuits comprise circuit portions of a power entry module (PEM), which typically is connected to a pair of service points provided by a DC or an AC power source. The PEM and system backplane include circuitry to enable a single backplane to be powered by two separate power supplies, thereby providing the system backplane and the set of logic cards with approximately twice as much power than could normally be provided by a single service point. To facilitate this capability, the PEM includes circuitry for detecting the power supplied by each of its power supply circuits and for automatically shutting down power supply to the system backplane in the event of a detected failure condition, such as an undervoltage condition on one or both of the power supplies, and a voltage differential between the power supplies that exceeds a predetermined threshold. The system and method also provides for the use of a second PEM that is used in situations requiring a redundant power supply system.
