According to one embodiment, a display device comprises a display panel and a polarizing plate. The display panel comprises a display area, a non-display area surrounding the display area, and a light-shielding layer arranged in the display area and the non-display area. The polarizing plate is provided on a surface of the display panel, and including an end portion located in the non-display area. In this display device, the light-shielding layer opposite to the end portion of the polarizing plate is at least partially removed.

According to one embodiment, there is provided a display device including a display module and a cover member, bonded together by a photosensitive resin layer. A portion of the photosensitive resin layer that is located behind a light-shielding portion (in other words, located in a shaded portion) with respect to the light for curing the photosensitive resin is cured.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display module including a peripheral area located outside a display area, a cover member including a phototransmissive region and a light-shielding region, and a ultraviolet-cured resin layer which bonds the display module to the cover member, includes first and second portions, and contains polar monomers as a monomer component. A transparent first electrode is interposed between the cover member and the display module to cover the phototransmissive region. A second electrode is separated from the first electrode and extends along the first electrode in an area corresponding to the peripheral area. The first and second electrodes apply an electric field to the part of the first portion to orient the polar monomers.

The liquid crystal display device according to the present invention is a liquid crystal display device provided with a liquid crystal display panel having: a first substrate; a second substrate; a sealing material provided between the first substrate and the second substrate so that the first substrate and the second substrate are pasted together; and a liquid crystal layer sealed in the region surrounded by the sealing material between the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the second substrate has a color filter and a protective film for covering the color filter on the surface of the second substrate on the liquid crystal layer side, and an end of the protective film is located inside an end of the second substrate and between the two sides of the sealing material, which are opposite to each other (outer wall surface and inner wall surface).

The second guard ring is a first-conductive-type transistor second impurity diffusion layer surrounding the first guard ring with a second width. The silicide region is formed on the surface of the second guard ring such that substantially no silicide is formed on a portion of the surface of the second guard ring on the side facing a drain region of the first-conductive-type transistor, and is connected to a second reference potential line whose potential is higher than that of the first reference potential line.
