A polytrimethylene terephthalate resin comprising: 90 to 100 mole % of trimethylene terephthalate recurring units, and 0 to 10 mole % of at least one monomer unit obtained from a comonomer other than the monomers used for forming the recurring units and copolymerizable with at least one of the monomers used for forming the recurring units, which resin has the following characteristics: (A) an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of from 0.8 to 4.0 dl/g; (B) an Mw/Mn of from 2.0 to 2.7; (C) a psychometric lightness L-value (L-1) of from 70 to 100 and a psychometric chroma b*-value (b*-1) of from &#x2212;5 to 25; and (D) a psychometric lightness L-value (L-2) of from 70 to 100 and a psychometric chroma b*-value (b*-2) of from &#x2212;5 to 25 as measured after heating the resin at 180&#xb0; C. for 24 hours in air.

The present invention provides a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) pellet comprising 80 wt % or more of trimethylene terephthalate repeating units copolymerized with bis(3-hydroxypropyl) ether at a ratio in a range from 0.01 to 2 wt %, wherein an amount of terminal carboxyl groups is 25 milli-equivalent/kg or less and an intrinsic viscosity is in a range from 0.8 to 2 dl/g, which pellet has an L* value of 75 or more, a b* value in a range from &#x2212;2 to 5, and a weight in a range from 1 to 50 mg/piece.

Poly (trimethylene terephthalate) pellets and method for production thereof

An ester-forming monomer obtained by depolymerization of polytrimethylene terephthalate and having an acrolein content of no greater than 0.5 wt %. Polymers obtained using the monomer and fibers, films and molded articles comprising the polymers. The ester-forming monomer is obtained by reacting polytrimethylene terephthalate with at least one compound selected from among monoalcohols, 1,3-propanediol and water in the presence of a basic substance. When the recovered ester-forming monomer is used as the starting material for production of a polymer, it is possible to produce a molding polymer for fibers, films and the like with quality equivalent to or higher than that obtained using virgin monomer.

Poly (trimethylene terephthalate) and a process for producing the same

A process for producing a polyester fiber by melt spinning a polyester having at least 90% or more by weight of poly(trimethylene terphthalate), the process including rapidly cooling to solidify molten filaments extruded from a spinning nozzle, winding the solidified filaments around a first roll heated at from 30 to 80&deg; C. and having a peripheral speed of from 300 to 3,500 in/mm without the filaments being wound thereon, delivering the filaments to a second roll heated at from 100 to 160&deg; C. to be wound around its peripheral surface, whereby the filaments are drawn at a draw ratio of 1.3 to 4 between the first roll and the second roll having a peripheral speed higher than that of the first roll, and subsequently winding the filaments on a take-up winder having a peripheral speed lower than that of the second roll.

The present invention provides poly(trimethylene terephthalate) copolymerized with ester-forming sulfonate and a fiber thereof. The polymer of the present invention is high in melting point, small in loss of melting viscosity and has a high molecular weight. The fiber of the present invention is high in toughness, excellent in whiteness and dyeable with a cationic dye, whereby it is useful for clothing, carpets or non-woven sheets, etc.

Modified polytrimethylene terephthalate

A polytrimethylene terephthalate fiber, a method for producing the same, a cheese-shaped package formed thereof, a false-twist textured yarn using the fiber and a fabric using the false-twist textured yarn are provided. The fiber is composed of 90 mol % or more of trimethylene terephthalate repeating units having a density in a range from 1.320 to 1.340 g/cm , a birefringence in a range from 0.030 to 0.070, a peak value of thermal stress in a range from 0.01 to 0.12 cN/dtex, a boiling water shrinkage in a range from 3 to 40%, and an elongation at break in a range from 40 to 140%. The inventive polytrimethylene terephthalate fiber has both of proper crystallinity and orientation and is free from the package tightness due to yarn shrinkage and the bulge. The inventive fiber can be produced on an industrial scale.

Polytrimethylene terephthalate fiber and process for producing the same

The present invention discloses a polyester fiber having a birefringence of 0.025 or more, comprising at least 90% by weight of a poly (trimethylene terephthalate), on which a finishing agent composed essentially of (1) an aliphatic hydrocarbon ester having a molecular weight of 300 to 800 and/or a mineral oil having a Redwood viscosity at 30&deg; C. of 40 to 500 seconds, (2) a polyether having a structure containing an ethylene oxide unit and a propylene oxide unit, (3) a nonionic surfactant, and (4) an ionic surfactant in a specific proportion is applied.

Smooth polyester fiber

A polyester resin composition is disclosed, comprising poly(trimethylene terephthalate) in a proportion of 90 wt % or more, wherein the resin composition has an intrinsic viscosity of from 0.4 to 2 and contains a phosphorus compound corresponding to from 10 to 250 ppm in terms of the amount of phosphorus element, a cyclic dimer in an amount of not exceeding 3 wt % and a bis(3-hydroxypropyl)ether in an amount of 2 wt % or less. This polyester resin composition has excellent spinning stability and high melt stability and is used for the production of a poly(trimethylene terephthalate)-based fiber having excellent whiteness and high tenacity.
