A cylinder head cleaning method capable of cleaning a cylinder head with an enhanced foreign matter removing rate. The method is used to clean a cylinder head () having therein a water jacket () including a narrow space portion (Z) having a narrow flow path and a large space (Y) having a flow path wider than the narrow space portion (Z), and the cylinder head () further having holes (A-R,A-C) communicating with the water jacket (). Cleaning nozzles (A,C) are inserted into the water jacket () from the holes (A,C) selected from the holes (A-R,A-C), clearing liquid is ejected from the cleaning nozzles (A,C) toward the narrow space portion (Z), and the cleaning liquid flowing from the narrow space portion (Z) to the large space (Y) is discharged to the outside of the cylinder head () from the hole (B) communicating with the space (Y).

Cylinder head cleaning method and cylinder head cleaning device

A cylinder head cleaning method capable of cleaning a cylinder head with an enhanced foreign matter removing rate. The method is used to clean a cylinder head having therein a water jacket including a narrow space portion having a narrow flow path and a large space having a flow path wider than the narrow space portion, and the cylinder head further including holes communicating with the water jacket. Cleaning nozzles are inserted into the water jacket from the holes selected from the holes, clearing liquid is ejected from the cleaning nozzles toward the narrow space portion, and the cleaning liquid flowing from the narrow space portion to the large space is discharged to the outside of the cylinder head from the hole communicating with the space.

A pin and an oil hole are modeled in an X, Y, and Z space (a three-dimensional coordinate system). Then, the model is cut with a plane which passes through a central axis of the hole and which includes a line normal to a tangent of the pin at a point at which the central axis of the oil hole and the surface of the pin (cylindrical surface) intersect. By this operation, shapes of the pin and the oil hole are recognized in two dimensions. Following this, a point of a chamfering drill is made to overlap the pin and the oil hole on a plane. Since a shape of the chamfering drill is already known, dimensions of a chamfered portion when viewed on said plane can be determined geometrically. Then, chamfering is performed with the chamfering drill kept at such an angle of inclination that desired dimensions of chamfer can be obtained on said plane.
